APT is a small charity dedicated to alleviating poverty in sub Saharan Africa and South Asia. Working with local partners in each country we provide expert advice and skills training to support the development of small enterprises in order that poor and vulnerable people, such as disabled people and those affected by HIV/AIDS, can generate an income and provide for their families’ basic needs.

We are seeking an innovative and experienced fundraiser to join our team. This is a new role with the opportunity to make a real difference.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

TITLE: Fundraising Manager

Trusts, Major Donors and Individuals

Responsible to: Development Manager

Salary Range: £29,813 – £35,776 pro rata. Approximately 3 days per week

Location: Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. Flexible working arrangements available. Travel within the UK as necessary.

Purpose of Role: To acquire, retain and increase income received from trusts, foundations and the general public - particularly from high value donors.

Context: This new, dedicated fundraising role has been established in response to:

·  The need to broaden the fundraising base of a few key institutional donors upon which APT has relied.

·  The opportunity to improve the effectiveness of our overseas programmes

·  Funds being available to invest in developing this income stream to build organisational sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

To develop and implement a Fundraising Strategy for unrestricted funds, and provide relevant organisational support as appropriate:

Trusts and Public Fundraising Strategy:

With the support of the fundraising sub-committee (made up of staff and Trustees):

·  Develop a fundraising strategy for unrestricted funds, including:

- Increasing the income raised from Trusts and Foundations

- Raising the level of Public donations (including legacies and cost effective online giving).

- Establishing, developing and implementing, a High Value/Major Donor Strategy

- Focus on retention and growth of current donors and new acquisition initiatives

Trusts and Public Fundraising Operations:

·  To achieve income targets in donations from trusts and the public, through implementation of Fundraising Strategy and Plans.

·  Making a Business case for new initiatives that take into account income, expenditure, cash flow and break-even points.

·  Monitoring plans and income targets

Working together with our part-time Administrator/Trusts Fundraiser:

·  Retain and grow current trust and public donors through excellent stewardship; including converting to regular donors and maximising regular donations.

·  Implement initiatives to acquire new public donors

·  Act as an ambassador and advocate for APT’s work at appropriate external meetings

·  Design and produce public fundraising materials in digital and hard copy e.g. regular newsletters for donors, leaflets etc.

·  Implement appropriate e-mail and non-e-mail communications with donors and potential donors

·  Implement the upgrading and development of the website, including online giving, sponsorship and social media as appropriate; and manage all aspects of our online public donations

·  Establish and manage a database to enable effective management of customer relationships, and maintain accurate donor records

Organisational Support

·  Play a key role in developing an organisational Fundraising and Communications Strategy, developing public fundraising communication plans, and APT’s general presentation and materials. Developing some key fundraising propositions will form an important and exciting part of this role.

·  Participate in the development, review and implementation of APT’s overall fundraising strategy (including project grants/institutional fundraising)

·  Work closely with Programme Managers for effective and necessary information gathering

·  Undertake any other duties which may reasonably required from time to time

Person Specification

Essential
Experience / ·  Substantial experience of public charity fundraising, particularly with Trusts/Foundations and Major Donors. Demonstrable experience of delivering fundraising results
·  Ownership of or significant contribution to fundraising strategy
·  Experience of developing new or immature income streams
·  Managing fundraising campaigns
Desirable
Experience / ·  Digital fundraising
·  Use of fundraising databases
