3. Minutes of the last meeting on the 8th May 2016

Councillor June Smallman proposed and Councillor Bryn Whitehouse seconded that the minutes were a true record

4. Matters Arising (from last meetings minutes) – None

5. County Councillors Report

Councillor Kath Perry commented on a highways report received for our area:

Broad Lane – no further works programmed at the present time, a site meeting will be arranged as soon as possible.

- Chicane works to be considered in the future but not as a matter of urgency, Councillor Beryl Tarbuck commented that

the concerns over the chicane have been been discussed over a period of many years.

Potholes – additional funding has been earmarked to deal with the problem of potholes, all holes should be reported via My Staffs App

Gullies – a high number of gullies have already been cleared, the remainder to be done as soon as possible.

Highways Issues – a meeting of all parties to be arranged in the near future.

Members raised various concerns:

A sunken manhole near Windmill Farm on Bognop Road

Additional signage for the mini island on Bursnip Road

Weight restriction signage on A34 near turning into Long Lane

Drains on Sneyd Lane

Councillor Bernard Williams commented on the existing problems within the Essington Parish which are very similar to problems all over

the County.

6. ESSINGTON COMMUNITY CENTRE PROPOSED REFURBISHMENT – Phase 11 – To be discussed at the next Management meeting to

be held on 17th July 2017.

The payments made & cheques raised were proposed by Councillor Beryl Tarbuck seconded by Councillor June Smallman and carried, Councillor Chris Steel voted against the proposal.

A statement of Income & Expenditure up to 31st May 2017 was presented; this was proposed by Councillor Bob Bradburn

seconded by Councillor Peter Lever and carried. Councillor Chris Steel voted against the proposal.

A statement of Income & Expenditure for the Community Centre Refurbishment up to 31st May 2017 was presented; this was proposed by Councillor Mandy Cole seconded by Councillor Beryl Tarbuck and carried.

A statement of Income & Expenditure for the Tearoom up to 31st May 2017 was present, this was proposed by Councillor Peter

Lever, seconded by Councillor Maureen Billinsley and carried. Councillor Chris Steel voted against the proposal.

10.. SNEYD LANE – FLOODING - Councillor Mandy Cole commented that Environmental Services had confirmed that funding was now in place to carry out investigation and works to alleviate the problems of flooding, investigations have shown existing drains within the field area which will be used.

11. WESTCROFT – Councillor June Smallman commented on the wild parsley on the corner of Wood Hayes Road which needs cutting back, the clerk will arrange for it to be trimmed

12. SSC THE GOOD LIFE – The 1st meeting has been arranged for the 26th June 2017.

13. PUBLIC OPEN SPACE SJ96760348 – The land will be gifted to the Parish shortly.

14. UPPER SNEYD ROAD – DRAINS - No work carried out.

15. BROAD LANE – FOOTPATHS – as discussed in County Councillors report.

16. CCTV in ESSINGTON - Costs to be confirmed and discussed at the next meeting.

17 BROWNSHORE PRE-SCHOOL – The outstanding rent is now being recovered through the small claims court.

18. DISTRICT COUNCILLORS REPORT - Councillors David Clifft & Peter Lever commented on meetings which they have attended over the last month, namely discussions with youths about a skate park, M54 link. A residents meeting has been arranged for Thursday 15th June @ 7pm to discuss a planning application.
