Essential / DesirableEssential experience and knowledge
- Experience of teaching ESOL and working to National curriculum standards
- Experience of working with a range of examination boards
- Experience of writing Schemes of work /lesson plans and Individual Learning Plans
- Experience of working within and understanding of the Awarding Body requirements for the delivery of ESOL adult national qualifications
- Experience of working in a target driven environment and achieving set targets
- Ability to work independently, flexibly and under pressure
- Able to work on own initiative
- Proficient effective user of ICT
- Knowledge and understanding of the barriers inhibiting people from participating in adult and community learning
- Knowledge of how adults learn and the range of approaches that can be used to support them
- Experience of conducting initial interviews and diagnostic assessments, knowledge of the range of learning opportunities available to adults
- Knowledge of current ESOL curriculum developments and ESOL teaching
- Evidence of recent in-service training
- Effective communication skills
- Able to enthuse, communicate well and relate to adults
- Ability to analyse results and produce individual learning plans, specific to learners needs
- Experience of working with a diverse Community
- Ability to speak community languages
- Previously undertaken community development work
- Experience of delivering Citizenship courses
- Experience of working with and supporting adult learning in community/non institutional settings
- Knowledge of Family Learning and Capacity Building
- Knowledge of DDA, Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Data Protection Act
- Understanding of a wide range of cultures and culturally sensitive
Education and qualifications
- Relevant nationally recognised Teaching qualification: Cert Ed/PGCE (Adult Education) or equivalent
NQT/Qualified Teacher status
