ESL 14A, 14B, and 15 Students’ Use of the MLD Language Lab

Spring 2007

Beginning Friday, April 20, 2007, the Modern Language Department would like to welcome ESL 14A, 14B, and 15 students who need access to WIMBA in order to have oral practice for their ESL class. In order to make it more convenient for the ESL students who go to the MLD Language Lab in Drescher Hall 219, we have identified times that students should avoid so that they won’t encounter difficulties checking into or gaining access to the language lab.

The students will be required to complete the self-orientation on their first visit to the lab so that they will know how to gain access to and utilize the MLD Language Lab.

I. THE WORST TIMES FOR ESL STUDENTS TO GO TO THE MLD LAB:

ESL students should be advised that due to a history of very high lab occupancy during these times it is not advisable that they try to use the language lab at the following times:

Tues., Thurs., and Fri. 11am-12pm

Tues. and Thurs. 3pm-7pm.

II. BAD TIMES FOR ESL STUDENTS TO GO TO THE MLD LAB:

Due to a history of high lab occupancy during these times, it is unlikely that ESL students will be able to be admitted into the lab at the following times:

Tues. and Thurs. 12pm-6pm.

Mon. and Wed. 6-7pm

III. Warning: It is possible that there will be high lab attendance at other unforeseen times that would prohibit ESL students from using the lab. Please do not be discouraged. On these occasions, you might wait a few minutes to see if some students leave and you can log in later.

IV. The last three weeks of the semester the lab will only be open for Modern Language Dept. students due to the propensity for long wait times for entrance into the lab.
