ERWC Final Exam Essay – SERIAL

For your final essay, you will write an argumentative essay in which you attempt to prove that Adnan Syed is guilty, not guilty, or innocent. If you are arguing that he is guilty, you are saying that the state proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt. If you are arguing that he is not guilty, you are saying that the state did not prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. If you are arguing that he is innocent, you are saying that Adnan had nothing to do with Hae’s murder. Remember that as an argumentative essay, you must also address other positions in your counterargument.

The day of the essay (Monday, December 14) you will have all period to write your essay, but no longer. You will be allowed to use your Listening Logs, any printouts from serialpodcast.org, and any notes or outlines that you used in your planning. You may not pre-write your essay and just copy it on that day.

If you are absent the day of the essay, you will have to write it during the final period. If you do not write an essay, you will receive a “0” on the written half of your final, which will lower your final semester grade by approximately 5%.
