2. What is Equibis?

Equibis has been designed for financial advisers by financial advisers specialising in the equity release market. Equibis offers real-time benefits analysis which confirms benefit eligibility and provides specific analysis strands.

The software has been developed by Key Retirement Solutions and Entitledto, both specialists in their field. This process has three clear stages of analysis:

Calculating Eligibility

The software quickly and accurately calculates eligibility to means tested state benefits (Pension Credit and Council Tax Benefits)

Graphs and Tables

These provide analysis showing the effect of increasing a client’s income or capital across a scale which is determined by the adviser.

“What If?” Scenarios

At the heart of the analysis is the ability to run as many “What If?” scenarios as needed to reach an optimum recommendation for the client. This provides the end to end analysis that advisers need to provide comprehensive advice.

3.  Who are Key Retirement Solutions and Entitledto?

Key Retirement Solutions are the largest specialist equity release advisers in the UK. They have used their experience to work with the software designers to arrive at the ideal solution for the equity release adviser, both to meet the requirements of the regulator and to assist in providing the opportunity for fully comprehensive advice. Client trials have also played a part in the development of this ideal solution.

Entitledto provides a range of benefits calculators to industry and the financial services sector. Entitledto specialise in building bespoke calculators which are designed with the user in mind and a thorough understanding of the context in which they will be used. Their experts deconstruct entitlement rules to ensure that only the minimum amount of information needed is collected from users.

4.  In Practice

Calculating Eligibility

A range of information is gathered in relation to the client’s circumstances. Answers default to typical responses to aid completion. In addition help tips are available to aid understanding as you work through the forms.

Each client record is automatically saved under its own Reference ID which you provide. This makes the recall of any previous set of analysis quick and easy. The final eligibility results are clearly displayed and are stored. Copies of the results can be printed for issue to your client/inclusion on the file.

A detailed breakdown of the calculations can also be viewed to aid understanding of the calculation process. These are accessed by selecting the Links, which are the benefit headings, at the top right of the menu bar.

Graphs and Tables

Two sections are featured which offer analysis of a range of scenarios for equity release. They allow analysis based upon specified levels of additional income or capital.

The graphs and tables are available for both income and capital. You can specify the overall minimum and maximum increases and also the steps illustrated between the two.

“What if?” Scenarios

Having completed a range of analysis the final stage is to complete direct “what if?” scenarios. This allows you to narrow down a specific recommendation for the client. As many scenarios can be run to provide clear data for the client and yourself to conclude your advice.

The “what if?” stage of Equibis is the element which provides the greatest benefit to the client and adviser. It allows the final fine tuning of the advice to negate or minimise the effect on benefits through the analysis which can be performed. Through the “what if?” scenarios you can show whether proceeding as the client intends is the most appropriate route or whether there is a more creative option which has a lesser or no effect.

5.  Conclusion

Equibis has been designed from the adviser upwards to provide the ideal solution for equity release clients. Its aim is to offer a smarter advice solution by not only providing an eligibility calculation but by also completing the advice cycle. Equibis can help equity release advisers to advise their clients safely, in an easy to use format.
