Equipment Program Governance Model

The Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) funds a state-wide Equipment Program (known as the Equipment Program) to service the equipment and home modification needs of clients of Disability SA, Disability and Domiciliary Care Services, Novita Children’s Services and Minda Inc. Assessment, prescription and prioritisation is undertaken within the specialist services of Disability Services, Domiciliary Care, Novita, and Minda Inc with additional prescriptions by clinicians in SAHealth and other not-for-profit organisations such as the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Domiciliary Equipment Service (DES) then manages the supply, maintenance and replacement of all equipment and home modifications for the Equipment Program.

The Director, Domiciliary Care is responsible for the effective administration and operation of the Equipment Program, with DES officers providing the Equipment Program administration and support functions. The Director ensures communication occurs with all stakeholders via Equipment Program advisory committees and regular meetings with DES.

The advisory committees meet regularly and provide advice to the Director as well as DES officers. DES meets quarterly with agencies using its services to ensure service delivery issues, specific to each agency, are dealt with effectively.
