On line application form for the Environmental Footprint (EF) pilot phase 2013-2016
There are two possible options to propose the development of a Product Environmental Footprint Category Rule (PEFCR) in the framework of the Environmental Footprint (EF) pilot phase (hence after EF pilot phase):
a)As leader for a specific product category, in which case the proponents will play the role of Technical Secretariat (see the document "Guidance for the implementation of the EU PEF during the Environmental Footprint (EF) pilot phase - Version 3.3 available at more explanations on terms and roles of the different stakeholders during the EF pilot phase).
b)As stakeholder without leading role. If selected, these category ruleswill be led by the Commission,who will act as Technical Secretariat.
Submitting the application form

Important information:
This call is only open to products in the area of food, feed, drinks, packaging for food, fertilisers and catering services. No applications will be accepted for other product groups.
In order to enable the Commission to select a varied sample group of category rules, applicants are requested to answer a series of questions. Unanswered questions and/or insufficiently detailed responses will weaken the likelihood of a successful application.
This completed application form must constitute an integral part of the application, even if it is provisional or partially completed.
Costs for the application and participation in the EF pilot phase will not be covered by the European Commission beyond the following aspects:
Technical support will be provided by the Environmental Footprint Technical Helpdesk to the Technical Secretariat, as described in the Guidance for the implementation of the EU Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) during the Environmental Footprint (EF) pilot phase. This service includes trainings and e-learning packages. Furthermore, the Commission expects to provide support for the logistics for the organisation of face-to-face meetings and provide funding for the test of verification schemes.

The information provided in this Application form will not be distributed under any circumstances. It will only be used by Commission staff for the selection of the pilot category rules studies to be run under the EF pilot phase 2013-2016.
Please note that submitting the application does not guarantee the selection for participation in theEF pilotphase.
A written notice to the proponents of the selected category rules will be sent by end of April 2014 at the latest.

For the category rules that are selected, the full details of the members of the Technical Secretariat and of participants will be published. The results of the EF pilot phasewill also be published.
Confidential data will be treated as appropriate by the EF Technical Helpdesk, who will sign confidentiality agreements with participants, if required.
The personal and organisation data collected and further processed are data necessary for the participation in the Call for Volunteers (such as name/surname/ postal & e-mail addresses/phone number/fax number, etc.) and will be stored by Unit C1 of DG Environment for the purposes of this project and will be stored in the archives in connection with this project.
The access to all personal data as well as all information collected in the context of this Call for Volunteersis only granted to a defined population of users, without prejudice to a possible transmission to the bodies in charge of a monitoring or inspection task in accordance with Community legislation. These users are European Commission staff.
