1.Kansas 4-H Horse Show Rule Book will be used for rule interpretations. The rule book may be purchased through your local Extension office or downloaded off the web at.

2.All exhibitors MUST show a Negative Coggins paper at check-in for each horse/mule to be exhibited. Paperwork usually takes at least 10 days. To be considered current the test must have been taken in the last 12 months.

3.Entry fees sent or postmarked after June 1stwill not be accepted. No entries or changes will be made the day of the show, unless it is anentry error made in preparing the program, or an addition of a previously ID’d horse.

4.NO REFUNDS. ALL DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES ARE FINAL!

5.All 4-H Horse shows are expected to abide by the 4-H Code of Conduct as stated on the Kansas 4-H Participation Form.

6.Proper Identification: A properly completed 4-H Horse Identification Certificate (with photo) must be presented to the district show entry clerks upon arrival for examination and to receive show identification numbers. A 4-H’er can only show the same horse at the State Fair that was qualified at the district show. There will be no exceptions. A 4-H horse may be substituted between entry time and the district 4-H show, if the horse was properly identified by May 1. A 4-H member must manage and care for the 4-H horse at least 75% of the time between May 1 and September 30. No animal or member may show in the same class twice.

7.Pleasure and English Equitation encompass both hunt seat and saddle seat types. At the district show, one entry constitutes a class.

8.Classes for state show not requiring district qualification: Two-Year-Old Snafflebit, Three-Year-Old Futurity, Achievement Level II, Level III and Level IV Horsemanship. All halter horses must qualify at the District Show. However, only one halter horse/member may be shown at the State 4-H Horse Show.

WARNING: Under Kansas Law, there is no liability for an injury to or the death of a participant in domestic animal activities resulting from the inherent risks of domestic animal activities, pursuant to Sections 1 through 4 of KSA 60-208. You are assuming the risk of participating in this domestic animal activity.

9.All exhibitors must have successfully met the requirements of all three sections of Achievement Level I prior to the entry deadline (June 1st for Districts, August 1 for State Fair). The exception is for youth showing ONLY in showmanship or halter. These individuals need only to complete the leadership and written exam sections of the Achievement Level.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Senior District 4-H Horse Show Exhibitors and Family

The NE District 4-H Horse Show will be held at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, KS.

Please pay special attention to the following notes to help ensure safety and proper use of facilities.

NO ONE from the NE District is allowed in the arena (leading or riding) prior to 6:00 a.m. on the day of our show or the night before if you are coming in early.

Please pick up after both you and your horse.

Per Show Management Committee, contestant's will NOT be required to wear their Back #'s at all times, only while competing in the show arena.

A concession stand will be available. Please support them!! Thank you for your patronage.

Stalls will be available the day of the show or the night before. The stalls will be $26 which includes 1 bag of shavings. The Kansas Expocentre will collect the money at time of stall request. If you want to come the night before please call 785-554-3157 to make arrangements.

Help is always needed and welcomed by the Senior District 4-H Horse Show Committee. Be sure to lend a hand! In addition, please refer to your county’s specific job responsibilities.

2018 – Fall Sr. District Horse Meeting will be Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Valley Falls, Kansas. Please plan to attend to review our 2018 Sr. District Horse Show.

If you want to volunteer at the KSF 4-H Horse Show be sure to sign up with your local extension office. Your extension office may have a deadline to do so sign up sooner than later.

Kansas State Fair 4-H Horse Show is set for September 13-15, 2018.
