Restless Development is the youth-led development agency focused on putting young people at the forefront of change and development. We see young people as the solution to the serious and persistent problems of our world, not tomorrow, today. We now have a physical presence in 11 countries worldwide and provide support and expertise for organisations in many more.

Our International ProgrammesUnit (based in London) offers a variety of ways for young people to get involved including International Placements, Global Citizenship programmes and Advocacy/campaigning. Dance4Life is an innovative, international project empowering young people to take action in the face of the global HIV pandemic; motivating young people to take action through popular culture. Dance4life informs young people about HIV transmission and the realities of HIV in the UK and in a global context.
The beginning of the academic year is our busiest time of the year and we are looking for an enthusiastic, organised individual who will be able to ensure some consistency in the office whilst the team manages the national school workshop and speaker tour.
Skills and Qualifications / Essential
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
A self-starter with excellent initiative
Confident and professional telephone manner
Excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills
A passionate individual who believes in the potential of Dance4Life
Desirable
Experience of working within a busy office
Previous voluntary experience
Understanding of basic monitoring and evaluation systems
Experience working with young people
Main Duties /
  • Provide office support to the dance4lifetour team whilst they are out of the office-this will include a daily check in with the team.
  • Ensuring that communication with the schools is maintained for the duration of the tour.
  • Ensuring that communications are being followed up with the young people involved in the tour.
  • Collate the monitoring and evaluation data generated on a daily basis from the tour.
  • Plan, support and implement the dance4life action for World AIDS Day 2010.

Time: 30%

/ Support school workshop logistics
Duties /
  • Be the main point of contact between the tour team and the office throughout the tour.
  • Handle all calls and enquiries from schools taking part in the Tour 2010
  • Ensure all schools on the tour have up to date information about their workshop and any changes in plan are communicated to them.

Time 25% / Monitoring and Evaluation
Duties /
  • Collate monitoring and evaluation data that will be sent by the tour team on a daily basis.
  • Analyse the data and provide input into a final evaluation report on the tour.

Time 20% / Supporting agents4change (young people)
Duties /
  • Ensure that the actions being proposed by young people on tour are recorded in the office so that we can follow up on these.
  • Work with the agents4change officer and the Media and Communications officer to ensure that contact from young people on facebook and by email is closely monitored and that dance4life is responding in a timely manner.

Time 20% / Planning dance4lifeUKWorld AIDS Day activity
Duties /
  • Work with the agents4change officer to successfully plan the dance4life action for world AIDS day 2010.
  • Work with partner organisations to ensure that the action is supported across London.
  • Organise the logistics leading up to the action.
  • Lead the action on the day.

Time 5% / Other Duties
Other duties as required, sometimes requiring work on weekends, for which time off in lieu can be taken
