English Setter Society of Scotland Championship Show

DOGS –

I really enjoyed my day judging the dogs. A small but nevertheless quality entry. On the whole no bad mouths, but my pet hate of gay tails is rising its head again. The fault really spoils the topline & movement of the dog. This fortunately was in the minority. A big thank you to the officers & committee for their hospitality & efficiency in a very well run show.

V (2) 1 Dykes & McCrindles’ Sh Ch Caleydene Travelling Man, 9+ & still a very handsome boy showing no signs of age. Stunning head with dark eye & gentle expression. Short coupled with well sprung ribs & good angulation. Moved around the ring with exuberance & style. BV; 2 Thomson’s Swannery Valentinos Legacy to Caspellwynd, another lovely oldie, in full coat. Very masculine, well balanced with good eye & plenty of work in the head. Moved soundly with drive. MP (3) 1 Schoneville & Derry’s Hawklawn Khamsin, a very promising orange youngster. Well off for bone & substance, with plenty of heartroom. Strong backend. Moved well although a little erratic which can be forgiven on one so young. Should have a promising future; 2 Loakes & Romeo-Dieste’s Goldbirch Wings Of Glory for Hopevalley, another pleasing youngster. Not as mature as 1 & needs time to develop. Pleasing head & expression. Well up to size. Good reach of neck. Well set shoulders. Another erratic movement but can forgive, this will settle in time; 3 Grounds’ Mariglen October Flame. P (2) 1 Watkins’ Valsett Starlite Romancer, 10 month old dark blue dog. Full of substance with super bone. Level topline. Beautiful head with long reach of neck set in well angulated shoulders. Pleasing expression, gave his owner hard work. Just needs time. Moved well. J 1 W Call The Shots for O. Y (1) 1 Goutorbe’s Redhara Billy Whizz, stunning tri dog who stood alone but still a worthy winner. Full of quality. Well off for bone with well shaped head & melting expression. Straight front. Well balanced, covered the ground on the move; 2 Colton’s Colvendale Blue Chip for Ennydloc, dark blue dog. Different type to 1. Well boned & much shorter coupled.
