There are Scripps cards available for purchase at tonight’s PTO meeting

Principal Discretionary Fund

Motion to move funds into Discretionary Fund in amount of $250.00. Motion seconded, passed

Motion to donate money in the Discretionary Fund to MSMHS in the amount of $975. Motion passed, seconded

Anchor Award

Still need nominations for person to receive this award. Email Dr. Spera with your nominations

  • “Someone inside or outside of the MSMHS school community who embodies the spirit and enthusiasm of what we have come to know at MSMHS and goes above and beyond and spends countless hours making MSMHS the best it can possibly be while accomplishing more than one would think possible.”

Fencing Update, NEASC

Mr. Regan reports that there are 42 students on the fencing team

As a new team, there has not yet been a chance to build up a store of spare parts and uniforms

Mr. Regan requests funds from the PTO in the amount of $2,500 for spare equipment and uniforms for the fencing team. Motion second, passed

The head of NEASC is coming for a visit next week to speak with Dr. Spera and Mr. Regan

When it comes time for parents to complete the Endicott survey, hoping for a large number of parents to participate in this important step in the accreditation process

Spelling Bee, Principal Report

A list was passed around of companies that donated last year, for people to volunteer to contact them again for donations this year

Dr. Spera will craft a letter to past donors, thanking them for their donation last year and asking if they would like to donate again this year

A “how To” manual needs to be developed and maintained, listing what was done every year in preparation for the Spelling Bee

Shelves and furniture for the library have arrived

75 students were accepted on January 13, out of 350 applicants

The state of CT might change the way they fund magnet schools not affected by the Sheff ruling.

  • A committee of parents may be formed in order to act as advocates for magnet schools

How to get parents more involved in the school and the PTO?

  • Perhaps PTO parent ambassadors introducing themselves to parents of new students

The Winter Formal is this Friday, January 16

The junior senior prom will be held on a Friday this year

The senior class has donated a water bottle filling fountain

There is a pancake breakfast at Applebees on February 14.

February 3, 2015 revised to February 24, 2015 due to weather
