INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS

Welcome to High School English II Honors: This year you will read selections from around the world, focus on analytical skills, and prepare for the English II STAAR test.

At the end of this course, you will

·  Show content mastery of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills

·  Be able to read analytically

·  Gain organizational and note taking skills

Required Materials

To successfully complete this course, you will need

·  2” Three Ring Binder

·  Pack of 8 Dividers

·  College Ruled Paper

·  Folder

·  1 pack of pens and pencils that are to be turned into the teacher

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

General Rules:

1.  Students are expected to follow all classroom procedures.

2.  Students are expected to have all electronic devices silenced and put away while in class.

3.  Students are expected to be respectful to the teacher and their peers.

Consequences:

1.  The first time a student breaks a rule the teacher will give a verbal warning, unless directed otherwise by student handbook. (i.e. Cellphone policy, fighting, etc.)

2.  The second time a student breaks a rule the teacher will have talk with the student after class and contact the parent.

3.  The third (or more) time a student breaks a rule the teacher will send the student to the office with a referral and contract the parent.

Grading Policies:

·  There will be at least 8 daily assignments per six weeks

·  There will be at least 1 test per six weeks

·  There will be a 6 weeks test each six weeks

·  Students will lose 10 points per day that an assignment is late

·  Students that are absent will have as many days that they were absent to make up work

·  Tests must be made up before school, after school, or at lunch. They will not be made up during class time.
