Project Description/Mission
LEARNING OVERVIEW: Through this project students will learn about immigration to and migration throughout America. Using various literature (Grandfather’s Journey, Sarah, Plain and Tall, and All for the Better: A Story of El Barrio) as a foundation, students will understand the concepts of migration and immigration, and their relation to each other. As an end result, students will create and role play a fictional scene combining characters from all three literature pieces to display their understanding of the immigration/migration experience. Final scene will be digitally recorded and imported onto the TLCF web-page.
ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What can be learned from
the movement of people from one place to another?
SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:
· How are immigration and migration related? How are they different?
· Why would a person move from one place to another?

Task: In this task, you are seeking an answer to the question what can be learned from the movement of people from one place to another. You and three other classmates will compose a skit in which each of our main characters will meet at the Statue of Liberty to discuss migration and immigration.Your point of view will be related to the character you have chosen. As such, you are expected to understand their background, customs, and culture. You are then expected to integrate what you have learned about these characters and demonstrate how they would react when arriving to a new place. You will know you have successfully finished when your character
