2.01MATERIALS

A.Thecalcium aluminate cement-basedself-levelingunderlaymentshallbeLEVELEX 150Self-Leveling Calcium AluminateCement Based Underlayment.

B.PrimerforstandardabsorbentconcreteshallbeLEVELEX-Primer A or B.

C.Watershallbeclean,potable,andsufficientlycool(notwarmerthan70°F).

H.Moisturevaporsuppression:BESSERNrecommendstheuseofamoisturecontrolsystemoverexistingconcretewherethelevelofmoistureemissionsfromtheslabexceedsthemaximumpermittedbythemanufacturerofthefinishedcoatingorsealerastestedinaccordancewithRelativeHumidityMethod(ASTMF2170) or Calcium Chloride Method (ASTM F1869).Ifmoistureproblemsexist,BESSERNrecommendstheVapor ControlSystem (ENDURIT MVC-8, MVC-2 or MVC2LT).Forcompleteinstallationinstructions,pleaserefertotheappropriateENDURIT MVCMoisture Vapor ControlTechnical Data Sheet.

2.02MIXDESIGN

A.Standardmixingratio:MixeachbagofLEVELEX 150(50lb.)with5.5quartsofwater.ProductshallbemixedinanMixingDrumusingaMixingPaddleanda1/2"heavy-dutydrill(min.650rpm).Mixthoroughlyforapproximately2-3minutestoobtainalump-freemixture.

Followwritteninstructionsperthe LEVELEX 150baglabel.

B.ENDURIT LEVELEX 150can be mixed and applied using an AutomaticMixingPump.Consult the pump manufacturer’suser’s guide to determine the proper settings.

DONOTOVERWATER!Checktheconsistencyoftheproductonthefloortoensureauniformdistributionofthesandaggregateatboththetopsurfaceandbottomofthepour.

PART3–EXECUTION

3.01PREPARATION

A.Allsubfloors mustbesound,solid,cleaned,andprimed:

1.Allconcretesubfloorsmustbeofadequatestrength,clean,andfreeofalloil,grease,

dirt,curingcompoundsandanysubstancethatmightactasabondbreakerbefore

priming.Mechanicallycleanifnecessaryusingshotblastingorother.Acidetching

andtheuseofsweepingcompoundsandsolventsarenotacceptable.

2.Woodsubfloors mustbecleanandfreeofallforeignmatter.Sandtobarewoodthen

vacuumtoremovealldust.Re-nailanylooseboardsexhibitingmovement.

3.Metalsubfloorsmustbecleanandfreeofallrustandforeignmatter.Where

required,acorrosiveresistantcoatingshouldbeappliedandallowedtodrybefore

priming.

4.Cutbackandothernon-watersolubleadhesiveresiduesmustbewetscrapedtoa

thin,well-bondedlayer.

5.Non-poroussubfloorssuchasceramicandquarrytileaswellasterrazzoshouldbe

cleanandfreeofallwaxesandsealers.Ifnecessary,havethesurface

professionallycleaned.

6.Allcracksinthesubfloorshallberepairedtominimizetelegraphingthroughthe

underlayment.

7.Substratesshallbeinspectedandcorrectedformoistureoranyotherconditionsthat

couldaffecttheperformanceoftheunderlaymentorthefinishedfloorcovering.

B.JOINTPREPARATION

1.MovingJoints–honorallexpansionandisolationjointsupthroughtheunderlayment

orENDURIT MoistureVapor ControlSystem.

2.SawCutsandControlJoints–fillallnon-movingjointswithENDURIT Quick-Fix 100 asrequired. Refer to the ENDURIT Quick-Fix 100 Technical Data Sheet for more detailed information.

3.WhenusinganENDURIT MVCMoistureVapor ControlSystem,followinstructionsprovidedintheENDURIT MCVMoistureVapor ControlTechnicalData SheetforthetreatmentofSawCuts,ControlJointsandCracks.

C.PRIMING

1.Primerforconcretesubfloors:Use LEVELEX-Primer A or B (consult LEVELEX Primer Technical Data Sheets for detailed application instructions).

Applyevenlywitha short-nap roller the use of a broom or mop may be used to help disperse material.Donotleaveanybarespots.Removeallpuddlesandexcessprimer.Allowtodrytoaclear,thinfilm(min.1hour,max.24hours).Underlaymentshallnotbeapplieduntiltheprimerisdry.Primercoverageis

approximately400 to500sq. ft.pergallon.

3.02APPLICATIONOFUNDERLAYMENT

A.INSTALLATION

1.PourorpumptheliquidENDURIT LEVELEX 150andspreadsmooth inplacewitha gauge rake and spiked roller.Wear spikedshoestoavoidleavingmarksintheliquidLEVELEX 150.Underlaymentcanbewalkedonin2hoursat75°F.

3.03PREPARATIONFORFLOORINGINSTALLATION

A.Underlaymentcanacceptfinishfloorcoveringmaterials,toincludeCarpet,after24hours

at 75°F and 50% relative humidity.

B.Duetothewiderangeofadhesivesthatareusedtoinstallfloorcoverings,some

adhesivesmaydrymorequicklyoverLEVELEXunderlaymentsthanoverothersubstrates.It is recommended that a test installation be performed to determine conditions.

3.04FIELDQUALITYCONTROL

A.Wherespecified,fieldsamplingoftheLEVELEX 150 underlaymentistobedonebytakinganentireunopenedbagoftheproductbeinginstalledtoanindependenttestingfacilitytoperformcompressivestrengthtestinginaccordancewithASTMC109/modified:air-cureonly.Therearenoinsitu testprocedures fortheevaluationof compressivestrength.

3.05PROTECTION

A.Priortotheinstallationofthefinishflooring,thesurfaceoftheunderlaymentshouldbe

protectedfromabusebyothertradesbytheuseofplywood,Masoniteorothersuitable

protectioncourse.
