PART 1 – GENERAL

1.1DESCRIPTION

.1General Requirements are part of this specification and shall apply as if repeated here.

.2Work includes:

.1Prefabricated Sight Obscuring Enclosure Systems, complete, including structural framing, panels, gates and hardware.

.2Enclosure Gates and hardware for New or Replacement Installations

.3Enclosure System Anchorage

1.2COORDINATION

.1Coordinate installation of anchorages for [enclosure systems] [and][gates]. Submit setting drawings, templates, and directions for installing anchorages, including sleeves, concrete inserts, anchor bolts, and items with integral anchors that are to be embedded in concrete. Deliver items to Project site in time for installation.

.2Coordinate installation of [enclosure systems] [and] [gates] with adjacent construction to ensure that adjacent construction is protected from damage by the work of this Section.

.3Where enclosures are used at electrical transformers, coordinate installation with owner of the transformers for proper electrical grounding of enclosures and gates.

1.3DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

.1Thermal Movements: Allow for thermal movements from ambient and surface temperature changes by preventing buckling, opening of joints, overstressing of components, failure of connections, and other detrimental effects. Base calculations on surface temperatures of materials due to both solar heat gain and nighttime sky heat loss.

.1Temperature Change (Range): 120 deg F, ambient; 180 deg F, material surfaces

1.4SAMPLES

.1Submit samples in accordance with Division 1 Section, Submittals.

.2Submit duplicate, minimum 3-inch x 5-inch samples of each color selected.

1.5SHOP DRAWINGS

.1Submit shop drawings in accordance with Division 1 Section, Submittals

.2Indicate elevations, profiles, dimensions and thickness of panels.

.3Indicate location and detail of joints including joints necessary to accommodate thermal movement.

.4Show fastening and anchoring details.

.5Coordination Drawings: For [enclosure systems] [and] [gates] elements that house items specified in other Sections. Show dimensions of housed items, including locations of housing penetrations and attachments, and necessary clearances

1.6LEED SUBMITTALS:

.1Product Data for CreditMR4: For products having recycled content, documentation indicating percentages by weight of postconsumer and preconsumer recycled content. Include statement indicating cost for each product having recycled content

1.7PRODUCT DELIVERY, HANDLING AND STORAGE

.1Protect finish and edges using a plastic film adhered to prefinished components in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.

.2Store components and materials in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.

1.8WARRANTY

.1Submit manufacturer’s written warranty covering failure of factory-applied exterior finish within the warranty period. Warranty period for finish:One yearafter the date of Substantial Completion.

PART 2 – PRODUCTS

2.1MANUFACTURER OF [ENCLOSURES] [AND] [GATES]

.1Manufacturers of [Enclosures systems] [and] [Gates]: Basis of this specification is RevampPanels, LLC, Products: As Indicated. Products by others may be considered provided the product is submitted for approval in accordance with the Supplementary Instructions to Bidders and Division 1 Specifications, meets the specified requirements and in the opinion of the Architect, conforms to the general properties of the product listed, including color.

2.2PROPERTIES OF [ENCLOSURES] [AND] [GATES]

.1Panel thickness: 0.125-inches with 1 ½-inch return flange on all four sides

2.3FRAMING

.1Gate Posts: 6 x 6 x 3/8” HSS

.2Enclosure Posts: 4 x 4 x ¼-inch HSS

.3Gate Frame: 2 x 2 x ¼-inch HSS at hinge side; 2 x 2 x ¼-inch angle at top, bottom and latch side; 2 x 2 x ¼-inch “T” section at center horizontal members

2.4HINGES:

.1Basis of Specification is The Chamberlain Group, Inc, 845 Larch Avenue, Elmhurst, IL 60125-1196, 1-800-528-2806, Model Elite Heavy Duty Ball-bearing Power Hinges. Hinges shall be welded to ½-inch steel mounting plates for mechanical fastening to gate posts and welding to gate frames.

2.5[SLIDE BAR][AND][DROP RODS]:

.1[Slide Bars: Slide bars fabricated from 1-inch diameter solid steel rod. Slide bar mounting brackets shall be fabricated from steel pipe welded to ¼-inch steel mounting plate for mechanical fastening to gate frames.]

.2[Drop Rods: Drop rods shall be fabricated to 5/8-inch diameter steel rod. Drop Rod brackets shall be steel pipe welded to ¼-inch steel mounting plates for mechanical fastening to gate frames.]

.3[Drop Rod Stops: Drop Rod Stops shall be fabricated from 2 x 2 x ¼-inch steel angles.]

.4[Drop Rod Receivers: Provide Steel Pipe embedded in concrete at gate closed and gate open locations.]

2.6FABRICATION:

1Gates shall be prefabricated, welded [finished] and ready for installation

.2[Accessories (hinges, slide bars, drop rods) shall be fabricated and [finished] [non-finished] before being mechanically fastened to gate posts and frames.]

.3Gate Posts shall be sized for minimum 3’-0” embedment in concrete

.4Gate Posts and Enclosure Posts shall have welded caps.

.5Enclosure posts shall have 3/8-inch steel base plates for mechanical fastening to concrete.

.6Enclosure posts shall have continuous angle brackets welded flush to inside face of posts. [Provide protective backboards.]

.7Gate frame shall be continuously welded at all connections.

.8All welds shall be water tight and ground smooth.

.9Panels shall be mechanically fastened to posts.

10Panels shall be welded to gate framing members.

11Hinge assemblies shall be mounted to gate posts and gates so as to allow gates to open to 180 degrees.

12Drop rod receivers shall be provided at closed position, 100 degree open position and where available, 180 degree gate open positions space.

2.7FINISHES:

.1Finishes General: All components shall be factory finished before assembly.

.2Unfinished Steel Panels: Hot Rolled, Pickled and Oiled

.3Cardinal Powder Coat:

.4Galvanized: Hot-dip galvanize items to comply with ASTMA153/A153M for steel and iron hardware and with ASTMA123/A123M for other steel and iron products

.5Cor-Ten® Steel: 1/8" A588

.6Fasteners shall be galvanized for exterior use.

2.8COLOR:

.1Color to be selected from the manufacturer’s standard color range

PART 3 — EXECUTION

3.1EXAMINATION

.1Examine work of other Sections upon which work of this Section depends.

.2Report any unsatisfactory conditions to Architect in writing. Do not start work until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected.

3.2GATE POSTS

.1Gate posts shall be pre-finished as indicated and embedded in concrete footings at time of or before slab is cast.

.2Gate posts shall be installed plumb and true, free of distortion and surface imperfections, uniform in color and gloss.

.3In gate replacement installations where existing round gate posts are deemed acceptable for re-use, provide gate manufacturer’s round post hinge adapters.

3.3ENCLOSURE POSTS AND PANELS

.1Install enclosure posts and panels plumb, true, level and in alignment to established lines and elevations.

.2Where indicated on drawings or as required to complete work of this Section, furnish and install closures, caps, fasteners and trims with finish matching panel finish.

3.4CLEAN-UP

.1Remove protective film from components.

.2Clean exposed surfaces in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

.3For powder-coated surfaces, repair and touch up minor surface damage with Cardinal DC1 color matching high grade enamel, only where permitted by the Architect and only where appearance after touch-up is acceptable to Architect.

.4Replace damaged components that, in opinion of the Architect, cannot be satisfactorily repaired.
