Go Red for American Heart Month (February). We provide materials, window clings, staff and mission speakers, etc., for any internal events such as management team meetings, lunch and learns, etc. We can also provide red dress pins for staff, etc. Employees can wear red on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, for National Wear Red Day. Fight stroke - the #4 cause of death: May is American Stroke Month, which is the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s annual campaign to increase stroke awareness and to educate Americans that stroke is largely preventable, treatable and beatable. While stroke is the No. 5 cause of death and leading cause of disability in the U.S., many Americans do not think of stroke as a major health concern. We have made a lot of progress, but we still have a ways to go to end stroke and need your help!

Join the Power to End Stroke movement: Power To End Stroke is an education and awareness campaign that embraces and celebrates the culture, energy, creativity and lifestyles of African Americans. Heart disease and stroke are major health risks for all people, but African Americans are at particularly high risk. Power to End Stroke unites people to help make an impact on the high incidence of stroke within their communities.

Start a new habit on National Eating Healthy Day: Take the first step to making healthier food choices by taking part in the American Heart Association's National Eating Healthy Day on the first Wednesday in November. On this day, Americans are encouraged to commit to healthier eating. Celebrating National Eating Healthy Day is fun and easy! We provide a complete toolkit of materials and how-to information for workplaces, schools, individuals and communities.

Healthy Workplace Food and Beverage Toolkit: The American Heart Association’s Healthy Workplace Food and Beverage Toolkit was created to help organizations improve their food environment and promote a culture of health. It provides practical action steps and suggestions that are easy to understand and apply. In addition to specific guidance and nutrition standards for beverages, snacks and meals, topics addressed in the toolkit include healthy eating, creating a culture of health, how leadership and management can be involved, special events, meetings, vending machines, healthier cooking methods, resources and links, and a glossary of terms.

Help us reduce sodium in America’s food supply: Encourage employees to take the sodium pledge to reduce their personal sodium intake. Their pledge will help our efforts to recruit an army of supporters to team up with us to advocate for sodium policy change at the federal level.
