Emerging Folk Group EVA to Perform at Weinberg Center

FREDERICK, Md., Monday, October 10,2016—With roots in Australia, Ireland, the UK, and the USA, emerging folk rock group EVA will return to the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Thursday, November 3 at 7:30pm.This all-female trio blends worldly sensibilities with time-honored musical traditions.

The Tivoli Discovery Series is pay-what-you-want with a suggested donation of $10. Tickets may be reserved in advance at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling 301.600.2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick Street. Tickets will also be available at the door for each performance.

Kath Buckell is an Australian singer/songwriter, guitarist, and percussionist based in New York City. She has been in the top 40 charts in both Roots/Americana and AAA radio stations across America and won an honorable mention award for the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest for “Orphaned by the Colour of my Skin.” She has worked with notable producer Jaroslav Jakubovic and recorded with Bette Midler's very own Harlette and Darlene Love's long-time backing vocalist the divine Ula Hedwig.

Nicole Zuraitis is a Brooklyn-based vocalist, songwriter and pianist. Recent accolades include the 2015 Sarah Vaughan Jazz Vocal Competition in which she was one of the top five finalists, the 2015 Johnny Mercer and People's Choice Award in the National American Traditions Competition, the 2014 Herb Alpert ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Award and the 2013 Songdoor International Songwriting Award.

Liz Simmons grew up listening to her mother sing traditional songs from Ireland, Scotland, England, and America, as well as the New Orleans brass music her father plays. She has developed a vocal and guitar style that draws from her musical history tobecome a respected songwriter: her original melody for the traditional song "False Sir John" reached #1 on the international folk DJ charts. Liz is known for her work with Low Lily, the John Whelan Band, and Long Time Courting. Her singing is featured in the film "Time and Charges" (2013).
