Emergency Faculty Hire Request

To request an emergency faculty hire, please answer the questions below in the spaces provided.

  1. How would loss of this position threaten the health and safety of students, faculty, or staff? N/A
  1. How would loss of this position result in the discontinuance of a program?

Larry Miyaki is the only full-time instructor in Geography. If this position is not replaced with a full-time instructor, the discipline will need to rely solely on adjunct faculty, which will have to be the case for the spring 2009 semester. Although we do have quality adjunct faculty in geography, they all have other assignments at other colleges. This limits the time they can devote to improving and growing the Geography discipline. Thus there is less continuity and as such is detrimental to the health of the discipline. These factors increase the probability of a decline in instructional quality.

  1. How would loss of this position result in the loss of accreditation, state licensing, or certification? N/A
