Electric Vehicle Day charges up the San Diego International Auto Show
San Diego, Cal., Dec. 8, 2017 –Don’t know the difference between a PHEV, an EV, a PZEV, an HDEV, and a Smart Car? Then come to the San Diego International Auto Show, Thursday, December 28, from 11am to 5pm, for “EV Day,” sponsored by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E).
EV Day is centered in the ThinkBlue Eco-Center, which features an array of all-electric,and plug-in hybrids,for just about every lifestyle.
SDG&E will have helpful and informed staff available for all five days of the show, Dec. 28 – Jan. 1, and will present its“Power Your Drive” program on the main stage, where businesses and multi-family communities can sign up to have charging stations installed at their locations through this highly beneficial program.
Subject experts will host informative “EV101” talks throughout the day, every hour on the half hour from 11:30 am till 3:30 pm. These talk are meant to help consumers learn about the various types of alternate-fuel vehicles that are available, and the benefits of owning one. A kiosks will be available for visitors to use SDG&E’s online EV guide to find the EV that’s right for them, get information on SDG&E’s special rates and the various incentives that make EVs a great choice for San Diegans.
San Diego is viewed as a green transportation leader in this growing new field, with one of the highest per capita electric vehicle ownership rates in the country. More than 22,000 sporty and fun-to-drive EVs are currently on San Diego roads. To sustain that growth, there are now more than 25 plug-in EV models on the market from every major car manufacturer, including new, more affordable models that have a range of more than 200 miles on a single battery charge.
Participating EV Manufacturers to date, include: Kia, Volvo, Toyota, Honda, and Volkswagen. A number of Ride & Drives located around the convention center will include EVs and Hybrids providing show visitors the opportunity to drive an EV after learning about their benefits.
