1.5November 2008 Register of Electors Canvass Statistics

The compilation of the Register of Electors has now been completed and shown below in wards is the comparison between registers published on the 1 December 2007 and 5November 2008.

There has been a significant increase in the electorate in Cadishead, Winton, Eccles, Pendlebury, Broughton, Ordsall and Irwell Riverside Wards.

Reasons for the changes in electorate in the above wards are as follows:

1.1CadisheadWard

The electorate has increased by 291. The majority of the increase is in polling districts AB (+42) and AC (+203) (now split into AC and AF) and can be attributed to new build within the areas.

In AB there have been 80 new properties built on Dean Road in Irlam.

In AF there have been 23 new properties built on Howley Close, Irlam; 19 new houses together with 12 apartments at Irwell House, Townsgate Way, Irlam; 14 new apartments at Quay House, Bankquay Court, Irlam; 12 new apartments at Canal House, Rixtonleys Drive, Irlam and 14 new apartments at Lock House, Rixtonleys Drive, Irlam.

1.2Winton Ward

The electorate has increased by 101. The majority of the increase is in polling districts CD (+32) and CE (+23).

In CE 30 new houses have been built on Verdant Lane, Eccles.

The increase in polling district CD (+32) can only be attributed to people moving into the area and registering, as there is no obvious identifiable reason for the increase.

The remaining increase is equally apportioned between the other polling districts.

1.3Eccles Ward

The electorate has increased by 209. The majority of the increase is in polling districts EA (+180), ED (+37) and EE (+44) and can be attributed to new build within the area.

In EA there have been 41 new apartments built at Clarendon Place, WellingtonRoad, Eccles and 24 new apartments built at Dukes Court, Wellington Road, Eccles. In addition two new streets have been built, Feversham Close (17 new houses) and Godolphin Close (58 new houses).

In ED there have been 59 new apartments built at Eccles Fold, Eccles.

In EE there have been 10 new apartments built at Clifton House, Clifton Road, Monton and 81properties at Ellesmere Green, Monton.

1.4Pendlebury Ward

The electorate has increased by 101. The majority of the increase is in polling districts GC (+31) and GE (+60) and can be attributed to new build within the area.

In GC two new streets have been built, Banksman Way (9 houses) and Brattice Drive (32 houses).

In GE there have been 56 new apartments built at Mere Drive, Clifton.

1.5Broughton Ward

The electorate has increased by 202. The majority of the increase is in polling districts OE (+54), OF (+48) and OK (+67).

In OF 11 new houses have been built on Maudsley Close, Broughton

The remaining increase is in polling districts OE (+54) and OK (+67), which can only be attributed to people moving into the area and registering, as there is no obvious identifiable reason for the increase.

The remaining increase is equally apportioned between the other polling districts.

1.6Ordsall Ward

The electorate has increased by 713. The majority of the increase is in polling districts PA (+60), PB (+68), PC (+239), PE (+168) and PF (+213) and can be attributed to a mixture of new build and people moving into the area and registering.

In PA Slater House and Steele House both on Woden Street, Salford were built last year, but not all apartments were occupied. Slater House now has 51 electors registered, compared with 25 electors last year and Steele House now has 50 electors registered, compared with 9 electors last year.

In PB 9 blocks of apartments at Fusion, Middlewood Street, Salford were built last year, but not all apartments were occupied. On the 2008/2009 Register of Electors 101 electors are registered, compared with 26 electors on the 2007/2008 Register of Electors.

In PC there have been 105 new apartments built at 1A, 1B and 1C Elmira Way, Salford and 17 new apartments at Radclyffe Mews, Salford.

In PEthere have been 88 new apartments built at Riverside Court, 254 The Quays, Salford.The remaining increase can be attributed to people moving into Imperial Point, The Quays, Salford and the NV Buildings, The Quays, Salford.

In PF the 213 elector increase can be largely attributed to people moving into Abito, 85 Greengate, Salford; Barnfield House, 1 Salford Approach, Salford and Spectrum Apartments, Blackfriars Road, Salford. Abito now has 112 electors registered, compared with 11 electors last year; Barnfield House now has 14 electors registered, compared with 1 elector last year and Spectrum Apartments now has 79 electors registered, compared with 2 electors last year.

1.7Irwell Riverside Ward

The electorate has increased by 820. The majority of the increase is in polling districts RA (+677),RE (+59) and RI (+61).

In RA the increase can be attributed to the erection of 97 student flats at IQ Student Quarter, Seaford Road. Through the pro-active approach of the Elections Office in registering students via the University, 531 students are registered on the 2008/2009 Register of Electors.

In RE there have been 57 new apartments built at Richmond Hill, St Stephen Street, Salford.

In RI there have been 54 new apartments built at Central Court, Melville Street, Salford.
