2nd Semester Class Expectations & Requirements for Upper Level!

Course Objectives

  1. Develop an interest in physical activity for life long fitness.
  2. Develop improved social skills, sportsmanship, and self-image through cooperative learning activities.
  3. Learn to improve fitness and health through exercise.
  4. Demonstrate basic skills in a variety of sports and activities.
  5. Improve movement skills and movement concepts in a variety of sports and fitness activities.
  6. Develop knowledge of sports and fitness concepts, skills, movement patterns, and strategies needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
  7. Complete and pass the state Fitnessgram test.

Student Responsibilities (reference semester 1 expectations)

1.  Students must dress in physical education uniform every day.

2.  Students must participate to the best of their ability every day both physically and socially.

3.  Students must show respect and courtesy to others at all times.

4.  Abuse, destruction or misuse of physical education equipment will not be tolerated. Obscene language, gestures, harassment or disrespect will not be tolerated.

Make-up policy

All absences must be made up through written work (prompt found on my teacher webpage) or a mile run depending on the day absent (mile run dates can also be found on teacher webpage). It is the student’s responsibility to complete and turn in make-up work.

Medical Excuses

Students are excused from participation with a parent or doctor’s note only. Parent notes are valid up to three days (any longer will require a doctor’s note). Students must dress in their physical education uniform even if they have a parent or doctor’s note.

Grading Procedures

2nd Semester Grading will be based on: Daily Points & Assessments.

Daily Points 70% of the overall grade

Life Long Fitness Presentation Project 10%

Syllabus 10%

5k Runs 10%

Daily Points- Students earn 10 points a day

A maximum of 10 points will be earned each class period if a student…

·  Participates to the best level of his/her ability.

·  Wears the appropriate PE uniform as written in the department policies.

·  Shows good sportsmanship and behavior.

·  Follows directions and class rules.

·  Treats equipment with care in the proper manner.

0 points will be earned each class period if a student…

·  Is absent

·  Does not wear the proper PE uniform.

·  Is being insubordinate.

·  Is fighting.

·  Destroys school property.

·  Leaves class or does not participate.

·  Has any type electronic device

·  Is defiant or does not participate
