What do engineers do? Where do engineers work? How do engineers use math & science? Could I be an engineer? These are just a few of the questions you will be able to answer after participating in The Excellencein Technology Engineering and Science Summer Institute (ExciTES) at UTEP. For one action packed week, you will be introduced to a variety of engineering fields including electrical, materials, civil, and mechanical engineering through hands- on, design oriented projects. You will conduct experiments in UTEP Engineering laboratories working side-by-side with UTEP engineering faculty and students. So join us at UTEP this summer!

The Excellence in Technology, Engineering, and Science (ExciTES) Summer Institute encourages students from the El Paso/Ciudad Juarez region to use their knowledge, imagination, and creativity and apply it to traditional math and science problems. All the activities during the week are structured into a team environment. ExciTES participants will engage in a number of hands-on and thematic modules centered on these disciplines. Middle school rising seventh graders and high school rising sophomores are eligible to attend. The overall objectives of ExciTES are to:

  • Create awareness of the diverse fields of engineering and science.
  • Encourage participants to attend college, specifically UTEP Engineering and Science
