Daily Student Announcements

ORGANIZATIONS:

Yoga club meets on Tuesday after school in the upstairs Pickard Lobby.

Art Club will be meeting in room 420 at 3:20 pm every Tuesday.

The Cooking Competition team is not meeting Tuesday, Jan. 13th. The Culinary Management Team is meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 13th.

SEA Club will now meet on Tuesdays after school. Please plan to meet at 3:25 pm in room 164B.

The Book Club will be meeting Tuesdays from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm in room 213. We will be meeting every other Tuesday. Please see Mrs. Mettlach if you have questions.

Yearbook will be meeting Wednesday after school in room 103.

Science Olympiad will meet every Wednesday night to prepare for the Regional Competition. See Mr. Sonntag in room 510 for details.

Knitting Club - Meets Wednesdays at 3:30 in the Career Center. See Mrs. Uvaas with any questions. Knitting club members Please read your email for information regarding Winterfest decorating. Planning will take place at the Wednesday meeting.

Creative Writing Club meets on Thursdays, in room 206.

There is no Key Club general meeting this week. Those students interested in running for a board position next year should come Thursday, Jan 15th at 7am to room 128 to discuss the positions available. If you are interested in a board position, please email Sara Engemann at with a brief summary about why you want to run for a board position and your qualifications.

Heart Group will be meeting on Thursday, after school in room 404

Blood Drive Forms are now available in the offices – sign up now to donate blood on January 28th!

Winterfest Dress-Up Days and Activities:

Monday: Dress - Patriotic, Intramural Volleyball at 7:00 pm in the field house

Tuesday: Dress - Twin Day

Wednesday: Dress – Jersey Day, Movie Night at 6:30 pm

Thursday: Dress – Throwback

Friday: Dress – Red and White and Hats, Sledding Party 4:00 pm, Basketball Game 7:15 pm

Saturday: Winterfest Dance, 8:00 – 11:30 pm

Rocket-Ball Tournament – There is a co-ed volleyball tournament scheduled for Monday, January 19th, starting at 7 pm in the field house. You must have a co-ed team of at least 6. Sign up forms are in the Activities Office. If interested in a t-shirt, please turn in $10 with form by Tuesday, Jan. 13th. If you are not interested in t-shirts, please turn in forms to the Activities Office by Thursday, Jan. 15th.

There is a new dance club for all levels. We will be focusing on swing but various types of partner dances will be taught. For more information, check out “Swing Dance Club 2015” on Facebook or contact Louise Brownell.

The Winterfest Dance will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 8 pm in the cafeteria. Tickets will be $10 and sold at the door.

Attention certified lifeguards, Mrs Dohr in the Wellness dept. is looking for daytime, 2nd semester lifeguards, for mods 2, 3, 4, 5, & 7. Please see her in the girls' wellness office, in the fieldhouse, immediately if you are interested.

The Library Media Center will be closed all this week and January 19-20 for textbook check in/out.

If you have a test in the ARC waiting to be taken, now is the time to do it! Don't wait until the last minute! Got overdue books? Turn them in now and lighten your backpack. Late notices were sent so check your email.

The Neenah Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for summer 2015 part-time employment. The deadline for accepting applications is Friday, February 6, 2015.

Applications are available and can be completed online at www.neenahgov.org . If you have specific questions, call the Parks & Rec office at 886-6060.

Have you every thought about going on a service trip? This summer you will have your opportunity. Mr. Borchardt will taking a group of NHS students to the Dominican Republic to do service work. If you are interested please stop down to see Mr. Borchardt in room 416 or email him for more information.

Neenah’s ice rink warming shelters will open for the season on Friday, January 4 at Green, Washington and Memorial Park. Hot chocolate is sold at all three shelters, during open hours. Sled hills are located at Washington, Memorial, Island, and Quarry Parks.

Beginning Monday, December 1, the Cardio Room will be open to all students after school from 3:30--5:30 PM

Remember, students, there is NO Parking in the back row of Lot "B" (the main lot) when there is snow on the ground! That area is used for pushing snow into when the lot is ploughed.

CONGRATULATIONS:

The NHS varsity red Chess Team took over first place in the Northeastern Wisconsin Chess Association conference, winning all four matches over the weekend in Waupaca to move to 7-0 after the first round of conference play.

Congratulations to the Powerlifting Team – both the boy’s and the girl’s teams took first place last weekend at the tournament. Capturing 1st in their weight classes for Varsity are Delaney Ortiz, Emily Salm Taylor Wyngaard, Morgan Marquardt, Dallas Cavegn, Karley Wyngaard, Joseph Mui, Evan Prince and Riley Porath.
