III. Approval of the Minutes
· Motion to approve the minutes of October 11th as is made by Brooke Matson. Seconded by Alexander Clavel. Motion passed.
IV. Approval of the Agenda
· Motion to approve the agenda of October 25th as is made by Brooke Matson. Seconded by Jasmine Hormati. Motion passed.

VI. New Business
· Motion to suspend the order of the day to move item 6.5 to the beginning of New Business made by Jasmine Hormati. Seconded by Nathan Wofford. Motion passed.
6.1 – Senate Visitors
6.1.1 Jo Ann Higdon (Vice President of Administrative Services)
· She thanked the Senate for inviting her to be a guest at the meeting and appreciated the students that are involved with College Counsel. Student participation has dramatically increased in the Planning and Budgeting Committee during the past two years. She passed out a document with information concerning education funding initiatives and the effects of Proposition 30 versus Proposition 38. She urged to those in the district to vote on Bond Measure E. She stated she is always available for any questions. She is responsible for facilities, anything fiscal in nature, IT, campus police, and ancillary issues. The current year budget has been built on a 7.3% take back. The February surprise will temporarily be 7.3% of most California Community Colleges.

6.2 – Nominations for Appointment – Brooke Matson
6.2.1 Valencia Clark – Senator of Fine Arts
· Motion to approve Valencia Clark as Senator of Fine Arts made by Brooke Matson. Seconded by Marisa Tam. Motion passed.
6.2.2 Vanesa Dapitan – Natural Sciences Division Council Member
· Motion to approve Vanesa Dapitan as Natural Sciences Division Council Member made by Brooke Matson. Seconded by Jasmine Hormati. Motion passed.
6.3 – SSCCC Fall General Assembly – Brooke Matson
· Unlike the leadership training conference, CCCSAA, this is an advocacy conference where resolutions will be passed. When resolutions are passed as an entire California Community College Student Government, it has a strong voice. She encouraged the Senate to visit the SSCCC website to look over the resolutions. Those attending SSCCC will be Brooke, Nathan, Dillan, and Tiffany.
6.4 – How We Make Decisions – Brooke Matson
· Motion to approve the How We Make Decisions document made by Brooke Matson. Seconded by Jasmine Hormati. Motion passed.
6.5 – Consultation – Dillan Horton
· Members have counterparts to in administration in which they are the representative. It is their responsibility to take information to their constituents from that administrative body as well as getting information, opinions, interests, and needs from constituents to the administrator. This also goes for Senators and the interest of their division along with Cabinet members and the needs and interests of the entire school. He reminded the members to attend meetings and becoming engaged. Brooke added that she heard from Deans that they are doing a good job.
VII. Reports
7.1 ASO Member Reports
· Brooke: Homecoming week will be occurring next week. She encouraged everyone to attend the Halloween Maze that Simone successfully set up. ASO picture day will take place on November 1st from 1:30pm-2:30pm. She thanked everyone that attended the Ruby’s fundraiser on Tuesday. Division Councils must be formed soon; applications will be given to Senators and they have to power to interview applicants or not. New computers and t-shirts are in the process of being purchased. She also reminded the members to not talk while the guest is speaking.
· Nathan: Region VII will be hosting a Region mixer at LA Trade Tech on Friday from 9am-1pm. There will be a march from LA City Hall to the Governor’s office from 1pm-3pm; it is a zombie march called “The Walking Debt.” He is planning an in-depth presentation once the Region VII website is fully completed.
· Ariel: From College Curriculum, they are making two new certificates: one for child development and another for environmental certificate of accomplishment. There will be changes to Title 5, developing a procedure for contact review. Simone is still in the process of calculating the results from the survey.
· Dillan: The Voter Registration Drive that took place over the last two weeks registered a total of 74 students to vote. It is imperative for the Senators to have Division Councils. Make sure time is set up with one of the advisers. In the reports, there should be no section stating “no report.” Office hours have gone into effect. ASO of El Camino has done a great job displaying a standard of excellence for how we operate.
· Jasmine: There was a board meeting last Monday. They are mandating Veterans, DSPS, EOPS, and Foster Youth for priority registration. ASO, HTP students, FYE and anything else that gets priority may change.
7.2 ICC Reports
· Ei Ei: Homecoming Carnival will take place October 30th and 31st. Homecoming Dance in November 3rd. The Children’s Holiday Party is an upcoming event with full details to come.
7.3 AGS Reports
· None.
7.4 Committee Report
7.4.1 Activities Committee
· Ariel: The Halloween Maze has been moved to the upper part of the East Lounge. Volunteers need to attend a meeting on Friday at 10am. In order to enter the maze, student ID will need to be displayed. The committee is in the process of creating a Talent Show. Two other events include ASO Sports Game Day and Q & A with Board Trustee Members.
7.4.2 Fundraising Committee
· Derrick: There will be a dunk tank for the Halloween Carnival on Tuesday, October 30th.
7.4.3 Policy Committee
· Dillan: The committee is in the process of creating AS procedures that will last for years. By-laws will be reviewed.
7.4.5 Public Relations Committee
· Tiffany: With the help of Rebecca Cobb, the idea of a template will be used to inform the PR committee on what is needed from them for an event, such as sponsors, time, date, deadline, etc.
7.4.6 Sustainability Committee
· Jasmine: Next meeting will be on November 7th. Recycling Competition has started but only one club has submitted so far. There was an HTP seminar on Tuesday. Dillan stated that suggestions were collected from the students.
7.5 Adviser Reports
7.5.1 Rebecca Cobb
· Student life needs to grow. A survey will be devised to get feedback on what students would like to see on campus. ASB is struggling for revenue and needs ideas of how to generate more revenue. ASO of El Camino maintains a really high standard of integrity, involvement, and commitment.
