Catch the Wave by Mike Cole

*Explanation of PTO budget

*Yearbook took in $1,000. May break even

*Over budget on Community Dinners. $200 to come in from Kerrigan’s Ice cream.

*All Book Fair income goes to library.

*Box Tops did very well.

*Misc. fundraising includes R.T. Berry, Philly Pretzel, etc.

*The new budget will be presented for approval at the first general meeting in the new year. Prior to approval, the proposed budget will be reviewed in detail with the Board.

7:50School Store Final Update/Field Day by Yolanda Regan

*Field Day theme is “Minute to Win It”. It will be June 7th and 8th, 2011

*Emails went out to room moms that day.

7:55Election of New Board Members for the 2011-2012 school year. Names and positions listed above.

*All members were elected unanimously

8:05Principal update by Boen Nutting, LNE principal.

*March 18th -23rd, 2012 is the date set for Boosterthon Fundraiser

* This is during Book Fair. Mrs. Turner, Librarian was concerned that it would take away from the fair. There was some discussion of moving dates. It was decided that it would be discussed later.

*Dr.Nutting asked that the PTO donate $250 dollars to the Save Our Schools rally. By email vote of the Board previously taken this request was approved.

*With the new budget the schools are up against some tough financial decisions. Worst case scenario is the loss of all Assistants except kindergarten and 1st grades. 50% cut in school supply budget. 80% cut in text book funds. (Dr. Nutting gave an example of her own son in the middle school who does not have a math text book.)

*PTO’s roll is more important now than ever. LNE is the highest scoring school in the district. It is categorized by the District as a wealthy school. Therefore, places lower on the needs list.

8:15 Open Forum for the New Board

*There was much talk about what could be done by the PTO as a result of the budget news we received from Dr. Nutting.

*It was decided that Mandy Burau, Secretary, would write up a draft letter letting the LNE parents know about the budget cuts and what they could do to help.

8:30End of Meeting.
