Jolly hot here! We better put on our sun block and hat (body drumming and head massage).
Let’s go sightseeing, get on a bumpyold coach (Bumpy Truck).
They built the Pyramids to bury their kings who they called Pharaohs, (Dog ortriangle) they are so HUGEstretch up, up!
The enormous Sphinx stays guarding all the treasure(half Cobra with elbows and forearms onfloor).
The ancientEgyptians used to worship many gods – one of whom is the sun god, Ra– let’ssay hello to him(Sun salutations).
It’s too hot and too busy here lets go back to the Nile river for a Boat ride.
Let’s get on a traditional boat called a felucca down the Nile, the world’s longest river! (Boatpose and rowing) Let’s Sail away from the city – can you see some farms growing yummy fruit and vegetables?
Gosh I’m really hungry. Egyptians eat ‘full’ every day (Porridge pot pose),it’s made from– beans (twist one way)tomatoes (twist the other way)and some special spices (reach up forthe top shelf), Give the pot a big stir mmm, yummy. Shukran (Egyptian for thank you).
Let’s go with the Bedouins- who live in the desert – the Sahara is the largest desert in the world we travel on Camels in the desert lets jump on – very bumpy! We are taking the beautiful Arabian horses,Donkeys and wild dogs to find food and water. Off we goover the sand dunes (Bridge pose) wow this is hard work!
Oh no! It’s a Khamsin – aargh! A hot dry wind(blow hot ha breath).
Ouch the wind is blowing the hot sand at us; let’s take shelter in the rocks(Child pose).
A friendly desert lizard(challenges them to chataranga – or modifies a version of)tells us there is a beautiful oasis right in front of us and as soon as the wind stops we can go. Phew – glad that’s stopped! Wow! It’s beautiful date palm trees, ooh, sun dried dates to eat – delicious!
Let’s put up ourTent. Now we can drink some water – It’s very important to drink lots ofwater, even if you are not thirsty, especially when it is hot. Lots of birds live here:pretty sunbirds(Crow), stunning flamingos(Stork/dancer), Eagles, and an amazingly hugepelican (Magic Bird).
Let’s have a little swim in the cool water (Volcano). Oh no – asleeping Crocodile, let’s bereally quiet not to wake him. Oh gosh – a Snake, a poisonous viper – yikes let’s get outof here. Back on the Camel, off over the Mountains to the Red Sea, where there are hundreds and thousands of different kinds of fish. We can go diving (forward bend)to see if we can find Nemo and his friends.
That was great fun, time for a party before we go home let’s try some belly dancing(playEgyptian music).
Phew, let’s lay down on the beach for a rest. We’ve just found a lucky Scarab beetle to bring us luck – let’s wish for a Magic Carpet to take us home.
Relaxation and Visualisation: 5 mins
Flying on a magic carpet above the desert lands as the sun is getting ready for bed, the sky is a beautiful red colour –
Fly through red...
Then orange ...
Flying above the yellow sand…
And then the blue ocean...
Until we see the green oasis...
As the sky turns a deeper blue...
And then a soft indigo violet colour and now dark purple, like a thick, soft warm velvetyblanket…
Watch as the stars come out we can see millions of them, reach out and chose one to keep.
Your magic carpet gently lands on your bed at home where you feel safe and relaxed.
Games and Activities: 10 mins
Wise Man Walk: this involves a group of wise men and a watcher, who stands with his back to the group. The wise men can move only when they are not being watched, and must freeze in a posture when the watcher turns round. If anyone moves when the watcher turns, the whole group goes back to the start.
