GRADUATE STUDENT PROFESSIONAL TRAVEL AWARD

FY 2017 -2018 (October 1st, 2017 through September 30th, 2018)

The Graduate Student Professional Travel Award (GSPTA) provides support to a Master’s or PhD student who is presenting a scholarly paper or poster at a major professional meeting. The award application and selection process take place at the department and school/college level. The Graduate School/College of Engineering will provide up to $350 toward each award. Dollar for dollar matching support is required from the student’s department ($250 minimum) and advisor.

An eligible applicant:

·  Is full-time in a Master’s or PhD program

·  Is the main presenter of a paper or poster

·  Has not already received a travel award within the current fiscal year

To apply to receive a GSPTA prior to travel a student must:

·  Complete the attached form

·  Attach scholarly paper or poster acceptance letter OR attach the scholarly paper or poster conference submission letter. Funds can be held up to 1 month prior to the event without the acceptance letter; if the acceptance letter has not been forwarded prior to 1 month of your presentation, then funds will no longer be held for your travel.

·  Attach abstract for paper or poster

·  Attach 2016-2017 PhD Annual Review (and/or most recent) **If you have completed the PhD annual review online, please contact for a copy of your PhD Annual Review.

·  Attach print-out of basic information regarding conference/meeting (i.e. name professional organization hosting conference, dates of conference, location, etc.)

·  Acquire signatures where indicated, from your faculty advisor and department chair

·  Submit the completed packet to the front desk of the Dean’s Office

After review and approval, the form and attachments will be returned to the student.

Before attending professional meeting: have your travel pre-approved through TravelWayne (Academica).

After attending professional meeting: This signed form and attachments must be submitted via TravelWayne (Academica) after the event for travel reimbursement.

Department administrators can help students work through the TravelWayne process if necessary.

Signed forms and supplemental documentation listed above is to be given to the Engineering Front Desk (5050 Anthony Wayne) staff. They will forward the information to Sondra Auerbach () for final approval.
