EGGER is “STARTKLAR” AGAIN

The Tyrolean wood-based material manufacturer EGGER launches the next round of its Startklar programme for potential managers

On 10th May 2010, EGGER kicked off its international Startklar programme for potential managers in St. Johann in Tirol for the 3rd time already. In the one and a half year programme conducted in the English language, 19 young top performers with management potential from the three company areas of Technology/Production, Finance/Administration/Logistics and Sales/Marketing will receive training. The participants come from Austria, Germany, Romania, France and Great Britain.

The know-how along with the skills and abilities of the employees are key factors for the sustained success of the company and positive business developments at EGGER. This is why it is important for the wood-based material manufacturer to support its employees to their best possible advantage, preparing them for future responsibilities and continuously developing their skills. “The objectives of the Startklar programme for potential managers are to create an international leadership pool for middle management, develop leadership behaviour among potential mangers and establish group-wide networks and teams,” says Thomas Leissing, Head of Finance/Administration/Logistics and EGGER Group Management Spokesman.

DEVELOPING NETWORKS AND COLLECTING EXPERIENCE

The internal EGGER programme offers an opportunity for participants to visit other plants, working with colleagues from various departments, plants and countries as well as establishing contacts that will be helpful in meeting future responsibilities. Internationality and the regular exchange of experience during the programme are particularly valuable for the potential managers. “I am really looking forward to gaining valuable experience in employee management and obtaining a better understanding of how EGGER operates outside Great Britain at the European level from a business management perspective,” says Jon Buffey, current Startklar participant and Sales Representative Hexham (UK).

Some of those who completed the first two Startklar programmes have already been able to take advantage of new career opportunities after just one or two years. “As a trained cabinetmaker, I was promoted to Production Manager at the Bünde plant in Germany in November 2006.

Over the course of the next two and a half years, I was prepared for the plant management position in various external training courses and especially through the Startklar programme conducted by EGGER,” says Georg Stolzlechner, former Startklar participant and current Technical Director of the EGGER plant in Bünde, Germany.

THE Programme

The programme conducted in the English language consists of three parts. It starts with a six-month training phase. During this period, the participants complete five different two-day training sessions at various plants on the topics of self-management and presentation, employee management, business management, project management and team building.

This is followed by a project phase where international teams work on concrete projects with practical relevance for EGGER.

All of the candidates also complete several days of “jobsensing” in the third phase. The purpose here is to learn more about the responsibilities of a Startklar colleague from another plant.

/ With 19 participants from Austria, Germany, Romania and France, the third EGGER Startklar programme for potential managers was kicked off on 10th May 2010.
