Annual EEO Public File Report

The purpose of this EEO Public File Report (“Report”) is to comply with Section 73.2080(c)(6) of the FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following station(s): WKDZ-AM WKDZ-FM, & WHVO-AM and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and posted on their websites, if they have websites.

The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning 1 April ’12 to and including 31 March ‘13 (the “Applicable Period”).

The FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:

1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Station(s) comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period;

2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.208(c)(1)(ii) of the new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number;

3. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period;

Ham Broadcasting Co. Inc. fulfilled all recruitment requirements by posting full-time job vacancies with all recruitment sources and referral sources. We had 15 recruitment sources.

Ham Broadcasting Co. Inc. engaged in numerous outreach initiatives including, but not limited to:

1.  Career Days/Career Fairs/Information Distribution

2.  Internship Program

Met with area colleges about our internship program. All managers are encouraged to assist with recruiting interns. We hired 2 interns in this reporting cycle.

3.  Establish Scholarship Program/Mentoring Program

7/17/12 Teamed with KBA to award scholarship to employee’s daughter.

2/14–3/15/13 Offered a broadcasting scholarship to be awarded to a Junior or Senior in College. Ads ran 2/14 – 3/15 on WKDZ and WHVO as well on both websites.

Ongoing Continued Mentoring Program that provides free lance positions for news reporters, photographers, announcers. Currently, we have one reporter, one producer, and one photographer participating in the mentor program.

3/13/13 Oldies PD participated in two class sessions for Operation Preparation at North Drive Middle School. This is a mentoring program for high school students.

3/14/13 Reporter Annie Catron participated in Operation Preparation at CCHS.

3/19/13 Reporter Annie Catron participated in Operation Preparation at HHS.

3/20/13 Sales Assistant, Kyle Rader, participated in two class sessions for Operation Preparation at Christian Co. Middle School.

4. Ongoing training program designed to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher-level positions. HBC highly encourages promotions from within and mandates training for all staff.

Every new employee is assigned a mentor at management level so that they can be assured adequate training for a successful transition to Ham Broadcasting Co., Inc.

All news reporters are provided additional training in a mandatory news meeting with the News Director.

All account executives are provided weekly training in a 2 hour session that is mandatory. Every AE has one-on-one training with the General Sales Manager.

All managers have a weekly two hour training/informational meeting with the Group GM as a group and each has a one-on-one meeting once a week.

General Sales Manager provides at least two off-location training seminars per year for all account executives.

Group GM hosts two off-site management retreats each year for all managers of HBC.

A ½ day mandatory training seminar is held for all members of the staff once per month.

Group GM is one of 100 leaders in the country to be a part of International Broadcasters’ Idea Bank. This is excellent training and learning opportunities for owners or those aspiring to be owners such as our GM. Information is shared with all employees.
