GUIDELINES FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS

PURPOSE

The Educator Initiative Program (EIP) is designed to encourage, facilitate, recognize and reward innovative and creative instructional approaches to the accomplishment of program objectives.

PERSONS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR GRANTS

Individuals or teams of individuals employed by the Cuero ISD who are involved in the instruction of students or related support services benefiting students are eligible to apply for grants.

ELIGIBLE PROPOSALS

Eligible proposals will include instructional approaches or projects that meet the selection criteria listed below and are designed to be implemented during the 2nd semester of the current academic year or 1st semester of the following academic year.

AWARD OF FUNDS

Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to individuals, campus teams, departments and district initiated programs or projects. Funds are available immediately after being awarded and must be used by December 31st or they will be returned to the Foundation. The number of grants awardedis dependent on funds available from the Cuero ISD Education Foundation.

DUE DATE

Applications must be submitted to the Cuero ISD Education Foundation Executive Director’s office, which is located in the Cuero ISD Administration Building,no later than 12:00 p.m. on October 15. Applications must be typewritten and signed by the applicant(s) and campus principal. Late applications will NOT be accepted.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. The degree to which the proposal addresses important program objectives.
  1. The degree to which the proposal represents a creative or innovative approach to the accomplishment of objectives. (It should address a new project as opposed to one accomplished or under way.)
  1. The degree to which sound evaluation procedures are incorporated in the proposal.
  1. The degree to which the proposal is clear and logical, including (a) specificity of objectives; (b) clarity of description of instructional procedures, methods or treatments; and (c) correspondence among evaluative procedures, objectives and treatments.

SELECTION PROCESS

1.Application forms may be obtained online or by email request.

2.Applications must be approved by the campus principal. Applications for ‘technology related’ projects must be reviewed and approved by the Technology Director prior to submitting the application.

3.Signed applications are due to the Cuero ISD Education Foundation Executive Director’s office no later than October 15 at 12:00 p.m. If October 15 is a Saturday or Sunday, applications will be due on the prior Friday at noon.

4.Applications will be reviewed and commented on by the Grant Application Review Committee, which is comprised of a minimum of five members of the Cuero ISD Education Foundation (CISDEF) Programs Committee and CISDEF board members appointed by the CISDEF president.

5.For each grant application submitted, the committee shall make one of the following recommendations: (a) disapproval; (b) approval with conditions and/or modifications; and (c) approval.

6.If recommended for approval, the application is presented to the Board of Directors of the Foundation in summary form for review and formal approval.

7.If approved by the Foundation Board of Directors, the application is presented to the Board of Education for formal acceptance of the grant.

8.Applicants will be notified of decisions no later than January 15th.

9.Projects will be funded.

10.Successful applicants will be recognized by the Cuero ISD Board of Trustees at theirJanuaryboardmeeting.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF GRANT RECIPIENTS

1.Utilize the grant monies awarded for the purposes it was awarded no later than December 31 of next year.

2.Submit a brief final report that includes photos and/or video footage of the grant monies in action to the Cuero ISD Education Foundation Director upon completion of the program/project for inclusion in the Foundation's Annual Report, website, and other media.

3.Share successful procedures in staff development sessions.

4. Complete the Grant Evaluation form, provide photos and submit to Cuero ISD Education Foundation Director; failure to complete and submit all evaluation documents will disqualify grant requests by this applicant for the next 2 years.

GUIDELINES FOR COMPLETING THE APPLICATION

The project is appropriate if you can answer yes to the following questions:

Is it important to learning?

Can it be done?

Is it practical?

Is it new for you? (If you are seeking recognition for something already completed, it is inappropriate.)

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Tell what you hope to achieve. (What will be different or better if the project is successful?)

Keep the statement simple and straightforward.

Promise only that which you can reasonably expect to achieve.
