Primary SCADA Equipment Request Form

This form should be completed and e-mailed to UKPN SCADAWORK mailbox prior to Gate C approval. The additional information should be provided as soon as possible, otherwise there may be delays in confirming the design and commencing construction.

Name of substation or project

(the permanent name, NOT a working name or the name of the developer).

Summary Description of project

Type of SCADA equipment required (Cubicle or Wall Box)

N.B. The choice of enclosure and number of cubicles/boxes will be determined once all cable information is available.

Cable entry arrangement (Top or bottom – bottom is standard)

Project Manager

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / ARRANGEMENTS REQUIRED

UKPN Service Order Number (as soon as Gate C approval received)

Full and final set of core sheets for all SCADA cables. Once these are received, a full I/O assessment may be carried out to determine the number of cubicles required.

Final single-line diagram (draft Operation Diagram).

This enables a) the cubicle(s) to be laid out in plant order and b) the mimic for the LCD screen display (if fitted) to be drawn

System Alteration Notices (SANS).

So that the substation can be drawn onto the network diagram, accurate SANS need to be submitted to the drawing office as early as possible. Until this is done the database & mimic diagram cannot be created for the RTU.

Communications infrastructure.

The communications equipment requirements for the RTU (e.g Satellite dish, DSL modem, paired cables or fibre optic cables) need to be discussed with Ops Telecoms so that the correct equipment is installed in plenty of time for testing / commissioning of the RTU equipment.

Protection relay serial communications details.

Information on the type of relay, comms medium and protocol is required in order that the correct protocol converter/bus termination may be fitted in the TEC, and the correct configuration entered in the RTU.

A serial communications line drawing, based on EDS 05-9004-0402 or EDS 05-9004-0403, as appropriate, should be submitted to Operational Telecoms as soon as practicable.

Delivery address and contact.

Prior to the finished equipment being delivered to site, Operational Telecoms require the detailed delivery address and a site contact/phone number, in order to arrange delivery. A postcode & grid co-ordinates of the substation along with an extract from google maps showing the access route to the substation should also be provided. This will enable the telecontrol equipment to be delivered efficiently to the correct location and will also assist engineers reaching site for commisioning and fault response in the future.
