February 2009 –
Editor, Spectator Travel Guides
I launched a new series of travel guides – a first for the Spectator – in March.
So far, I have written and edited two guides: Affordable Business Travel and A Gastronomic Guide to Spain plus a special report on cruise. A third, A Guide to Luxury Travel, is out in September.
My role:
• research the market to establish the subject matter
• write, commission and edit copy
• liaise with production and commercial
• advise on design, layout and subbing
• introduce key contacts to the commercial team
2004-2009
Editor, TTG Magazines
I launched and edited two leading B2B titles – ttgbusiness a monthly title for people who work in business travel; and ttgluxury, an A3 glossy quarterly title for people in the luxury travel sector. I also launched the highly successful ttgbusiness Awards.
My role:
• launched a website ttgbusiness.com and edited and contributed copy for the website
• I managed an in-house team of designer, sub-editor and reporter, and a freelance team of feature writers and photographers and contributors
• moderated at conferences, seminars, webinars, awards and private dinners, with guest speakers including Willie Walsh, Steve Ridgway, CEO Virgin Atlantic and Richard Brown, CEO Eurostar.

I am the media consultant on the steering committee of the first BTM (June 17&18, 2009), deciding topics and helping shape the event and moderating the sessions.

I chaired a half-day conference in May and will be moderating two more: one on Second Life in September and another in October.
Chair, Business Travel Streams, the Business Travel Show
I co-ordinated the sessions, liaised with the speakers the Business Travel Streams at this year’s BTS (Feb 10-12, 2009).

Travel: I am widely travelled, having lived abroad for most of my childhood (Hong Kong, Malaysia and Dubai), and visited Asia, including China, India and Thailand.
I have travelled extensively across Europe, to most European countries, particularly Spain and Italy where I wrote a number of guide books; Mexico, Canada, the US, Brazil and the Caribbean.
Other writing: I have written and contributed to a number of guide books including the Time Out Guide to Andalucia and Mallorca; the Rough Guide to Spain; and the Cadogan Guide to Andalucia and Cadogan Guide to North West Italy.

Pastimes/interests: I am a Master Scuba Diver; I take regular food and wine courses; interests include the theatre, film and photography.
