2017 School Performances

Dear Parents,

Each year at St Joseph’s we always try to offer our students a wide variety of extra-curricular activities to educate and entertain them in many different ways. This year we have organised several bookings for different school performance tours and special guests to visit our school, all of which are subsidised through our Performance/Excursion budget (formerly Country Areas Performance [CAP] funding). The school performances for this school year, along with a brief description, are as follows:

Term 2

Footsteps Dance Company - Weeks 1,3,4 & 5 on a Tuesday. (Please note that, in week 1, there will be an additional lesson on Thursday). These fun and fabulous lessons will take place on Tuesdays. The additional lesson held on Thursday of Week 1 is to avoid NAPLAN in week 2. All students from Reception to Year 7 will be involved and will be required to wear sports uniform on these days. These lessons align with the Dance component of the Arts curriculumcriteria and are a great source of fun and fitness.

Term 3

Wonggayerlo – Tuesday, 1st August.

This is an outstanding experience for R-7 students that will bring together Indigenous understanding and western science knowledge of our marine and coastal life.

The Book Show – ‘Escape to Everywhere’ – Wednesday, 9thAugust @ 10am.

The theme of Children’s Book Week in 2017 is Escape to Everywhere. The play will include stories and books relating to this theme - the content will include books, stories, poems, songs. These are woven into an entertaining and stimulating performance suitable for primary school students.

Questacon – Date TBC.

When the Shell Questacon Science Circus rolls into town the students (and teachers) of St Joseph’s will be treated to a lively and energetic science show using everyday materials and props. The show covers a wide range of topics from bubbles and balance to collisions and chemistry and lots more.

Term 4

Andrew Chinn – Monday 16th October, all day.

We are very privileged again to have the wonderful talent of Andrew Chinn visiting our school. This will be Andrew’s seventh biannual visit and one that all our students love to be a part of. His concerts and workshops are celebrations of faith and fun through singing, actions and a bit of comedy as well. Children are very much encouraged to be active participants, rather than spectators. We welcome you and your families to join us for the afternoon concert with Andrew (we will let you know times in Term 3).

Please note -The cost of these performances and the traditional end of year cinema excursion will be billed through your school account across Terms 1-4 ($10.75 T1, $10.65 T2-4).

Additionally, if your child/ren are unable to attend a particular performance you will not be refunded the amount as performance fees are negotiated on our student numbers and have therefore already been calculated and set.
