Unit 10 – Assignment 2

In this assignment you will be the sales ‘face’ of the Leavers’ Hoodies business. This means you will be promoting the Leavers’ Hoody to your Year group, demonstrating the benefits of the hoody and hopefully achieving a lot of sales!

In the second part of the assignment you need to examine the selling skills and processes used in different situations.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE?

We will be working on this unit during thelast few weeks!This means you will have approximately 5 hours of lessons, plus homework time, to complete this assignment. Your work will be made up of a number of tasks, which your teacher will set you. You will be given deadlines for each task.

ADVICE

The exam board want to see a detailed piece of coursework. Careful preparation and time management are therefore key to a successful project – get started straightaway, work steadily to the interim deadlines your teacher gives you and don’t leave it all till the last minute!

WHAT HELP WILL I GET?

  1. You will be given deadlines to hand in drafts of each task for your teacher to look at. Provided you meet these interim deadlines, your teacher will give you feedback on each section which will enable you to review your work.
  2. Please share information and ideas with your teacher and other students in your class, a collaborative team-working approach will benefit us all! Of course this does NOT mean that you should copy each other!

TASKS

TASK 1 – Prepare to make personal sales (P4)
For this task you will be preparing to market the Leavers Hoodies to your Year Group. You will be assessed on your practical skills in doing this, but also need to write down and explain the things you need to do in order to be ready to sell.
Explain how and why you need to:
Have knowledge about the product – price, colour options etc
Have knowledge about the ordering process – when, where to order, how to pay etc
Preparing the sales area – where it will be, what will be there to encourage sales
Develop sales techniques – preparing to make those sales!
TASK 2 –Use selling skills and processes to make sales (P5)
Demonstrate the confident use of personal selling skills when making sales (D1)
This task will be assessed purely on how you perform at the sales stall. If you are confident and professional, a Distinction grade is achievable here.
You’ll need to hand in the ‘Witness’ statement that I will produce on your performance.
TASK 3 –Compare the selling skills and processes used in different situations (M2)
Evaluate the preparation, skills and processes used in different situations (D2)
For this task you need to compare the selling skills and processes used by 3 different businesses. The businesses are:
  • A car showroom
  • A hairdressers
  • TopShop/TopMan
You need to cover:
The different sales techniques the businesses will use
The different ways in which the firms will build brand loyalty/ a continuing relationship
The different skills needed by the staff in that environment to achieve sales
To achieve the Distinction here, you’ll need to tackle the above in detail, and also evaluate the ‘Preparation’ used in the 3 different situations.
