Eddie Yurickones Jr. Break-A-Thon

Eddie Yurickones Jr. Break-A-Thon was started because of a student named Eddie Yurickones Jr. that went to Hoover Karate Academy known as HKA. He was a thirteen-year-old boy with his green belt in the martial arts suffering from leukemia. He was a very hard working student during the karate classes and the most respectful boy. Our Karate School is a bond. We treat others like family and are there for one another. When the Sensei’s and Students of HKA found out about Eddie’s condition, everyone was there and helping out Eddie to to help Eddie overcome this hump in his life. The Sensei’s shaved their heads so Eddie didn’t feel different. There were strugglers overtime but in the end Eddie came through it all. Two2 years has past and Eddie is blessed to still be alive. With his red belt now at fifteen, he is finally getting over his type of cancer. Eddie becamewas now cancer free and can finally able live the life of a normal teenage boy. Suddenly Sadly, this all sadly suddenly changed due to actions ofby one of his neighbors. Eddie and his sister were outside, along with his neighbor next doornext-door neighbor, were outside. You could hear that this boy, maybe sixteen16, was playing with something but Eddie didn’t take any notice to it. The neighbor boy was playing with a shot gun. His first shot went right into the direction of where Eddie and his sister were playing. Sadly the bullet hit Eddie. The bullet kKilled Eddie instantly and left his sister was left to watch how hehim passed away.

The Eddie Yurickones Jr. Break-A-Thon is a foundation founded by my karate school, Hoover Karate Academy. Our Academy gets together June 5 of every year and break boards in memory of Eddie. We raise almost $10,000 to give to the Camelot Kids and Dreams Come True, cancer homes for children.

The reason to donate to the Eddie Yurickones Jr. Break-A-Thon is to raise enough money for the Break-A-Thon to give to the children who have cancer, just like what Eddie. had, Another reason toto help us keep the Break-A-Thon alive for Eddie and is for yourself to feel good knowing you might have saved a child’s life.

For donatingDonations made to the Break-A-Thon we use that money tois given to Dreams Ccome True and Camelot Kids. Camelot Kids is where Eddie lived during his time when he had cancer. Those are other charities that have children suffering from what Eddie had. If you did donate to the Break-A-Thon, then your money would go to one of those charities tso support and help a child. We raised almost $10,000 each year to give to the Camelot Kids and Dream Come True charities.

Our Karate School like I said is a bond between to Martial Arts students and/or their Sensei’s. When we found out that Eddie had passed away, all of hearts were crushed because Eddie was either a brother to us or a son to us. Every year we enjoy doing the Break-A-Thon for Eddie because we are celebrating the life Eddie had with us and the memories we all shared with Eddie. This Break-A-Thon means the world to us and it is all up to you and to our school to raise money to keep our spirit of Eddie alive.

Knowing that you yourself donated maybe $20 of your money for our Break-A-Thon means a lot. (awkward wording) It does not matter how much you give, what matters is if you considered on helping someone ill out. That $20 of yoursTwenty of your dollars could probably pay for their food and some medical bills for the child. It’s always good to think back on what you did in life and what you accomplished. It’s always knowing that you helped a little one out just to be alivestay alive.

The Break-A-Thon is a memorial for Eddie each year. We appreciate everything everyone has done for our charity. Even though we are a charity, we still give back to other charities helping their children out. Donating or volunteering for any charity is an accomplishmented itself because what you are doing is helping an ill child andone out making sure that they will get better.
