Economics EOC Review Project

The purpose of this project is to make sure that we have built a solid understanding of and mastered all of the topics and concepts we have discussed in Economics. You will form small groups in which you will research the unit from Economics you are assigned, and then your group will create a PowerPoint or Prezi to use give a 20-25 presentation on your unit to your classmates. Each student that is not part of the group presenting will take notes on each presentation using the Note-Taking Guide that will be provided. Presentations will be given the second half of class on Thursday and Friday of next week (10/13 and 10/14). Your presentation will be graded as if it were a test. Your PowerPoint/Prezi Planning Sheets and note-taking guide will be graded as a classwork assignment.

Step One: Choose a group and a unit we have covered to research.

Step Two: Use your research notes on your unit to create a PowerPoint presentation.

Step Three: As a group, give a 20-25 minute presentation to the class. Include practice of any graphing or problem-solving that might have been covered in your unit.

Step Four: Use the Note-Taking Guide to take notes from others’ presentations.

Step Five: Submit your finished PowerPoint Planning Sheets and Note-Taking Guide to Mr. White to be graded.

Step One: The Research

Form a group of 3 or 4, and see Mr. White to choose one of the units we have covered to present toand review with the class. Begin conducting research in class using your textbooks and the Internet. See Mr. White for suggestions of good websites to visit to find information about your unit.

Your research notes will be used to complete your PowerPoint/Prezi Planning Sheet, which will be turned to Mr. White along with your Note-Taking Guide for an Assignment grade.

Step Two: The PowerPoint or Prezi

As part of your presentation for the class, you will create a PowerPoint or Prezi to present to the class to help review for the EOC. The presentation on your group’s unit must cover the following Georgia Performance Standards:

  • Unit One (Fundamental Economic Concepts): SSEF1 – SSEF6
  • Unit Two (Microeconomic Concepts): SSEMI1 – SSEMI3
  • Unit Three (Market Structures and Business Organizations): SSEMI4
  • Unit Four (Macroeconomic Concepts): SSEMA1 – SSEMA2
  • Unit Five (Economics and Government/Fiscal and Monetary Policy): SSEMA3
  • Unit Six (International Economics): SSEIN1 – SSEIN3

Each person in your groups will be responsible for researching and creating a slide for at least 2-3 of the sub-standards associated with each unit (i.e., SSEF1c, SSEMI3a, SSEIN2d, etc.). Be sure that your group covers exactly what the GPS four your unit specify that Economics students must be able to do. Your group must also be prepared to review any graphing or problem-solving associated with your unit. Make yourselves experts in all things covered by your unit so that you can answer any questions your peers might have. Make sure to include citations from at least 5 different sourcesfor all the information included in your presentation. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN A ZERO FOR PLAGIARISM.

Step Three: The Presentation

  • Everyone in the group must participate and speak during the presentation.
  • Stand up and speak loudly.
  • Listen to one another and help each other during the presentation.
  • Be quiet and respectful while other groups are presenting.
  • Make sure all the required information is included so that your classmates can fill in their Note-Taking guides completely.

IMPORTANT: Do not type paragraphs of information onto your slides and then read them during your presentation. This project is meant to exercise our presentation and public speaking skills (which you’ll need to use during your Senior Project presentation…), so it is critical that you give your presentation in your own words. I do NOT want you to just read off the PowerPoint or Prezi you have made.

Step Four: The Note-Taking Guide

You will be given a Note-Taking Guide on which you will write notes about on all of the presentations given about each unit of Economics.

You will hand in your Note-Taking Guide along with your PowerPoint/Prezi Planning Sheets for an Assignment grade.

Step Five: Hand in your PowerPoint Planning Sheets and Note-Taking Guide for a grade.
