ECKFORD TOWNSHIP of

CALHOUN COUNTY

August 20, 2012

Supervisor Rapp called the regular meeting of the Eckford Township Board to order at 7:32 p.m. Others in attendance were Clerk Hinkley, Trustee Lawrence & Trustee Cornell, R. Buskirk, L. Blight, Chris Vreeland and Doug Damon.

ABSENT: T. Baylis

Supervisor Rapp led the group in the pledge and R. Buskirk gave the invocation.

CLERK MINUTES

A motion was made by Trustee Lawrence to accept the regular minutes of the July 16, 2012. Trustee Cornell seconded the motion. CARRIED Clerk Hinkley shared about the upcoming MTA on the road conference and if anyone would like to go. Eckford Township also had a 26.18% turnout for the August Primary. We were the 3rd highest in the County.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT

Trustee Lawrence made a motion to accept the Treasurer's Report and pay the bills. Trustee Cornell seconded the motion. CARRIED

HOMER FIRE BOARD REPORT

There was no report this month.

MARENGO FIRE DEPARTMENT

L. Blight stated that the fire dept. pancake breakfast made $3200 toward their camera purchase.

MARSHALL FIREFIGHTERS AMBULANCE REPORT

Given by Trustee Cornell, he wanted to straighten the facts that the fair did settle the account with the MFFAA for coverage of the 2011 fair. Their next meeting is coming up since they changed it for fair week.

ZONING ADMINISTRATORS REPORT

Given by R. Buskirk, as of August 20, 2012 there is one permit for James Peck for a porch.

CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER REPORT

Given by R. Buskirk for M. Farmer,

Building Complaints

Newman property at 21492 F. Drive S. for a pool that was erected—pending

Robert Williams 18080 F. Drive S.--permit required

Complaints:

Jason Blackburn property, J. Drive S.—pending/prosecution started

Tenant at 22124 E. Drive S.--pending

Mike will give the “tenant” a notice of 30 days to have the trailer removed completely.

PLANNING COMMISSION

Given by Trustee Lawrence, there are two conditional use hearings coming up for Bruce Rapp and Kiessling's gravel pit. They reviewed the Kiessling's gravel pit file to understand the process from beginning to the present.

CITIZENS COMMENTS

Chris Vreeland, Chair of the Calhoun County Road Commission Board, he wanted to share some changes that may be taking place by the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners possibly dissolving the Road Comm. Board and taking responsiblity for the CCRC themselves. The Eckford Township Board thanked Mr. Vreeland for the board always working well with our township.

COMMUNICATIONS

Clerk Hinkley shared that Verizon will be changing our internet and will no longer allow us to use our Alltel internet card. Hopefully this will not change our plan.

OLD BUSINESS

Road questions have arose on whether we are going to pave certain roads this year or not. We will probably need to send a letter and update residents on the road status. Supervisor Rapp stated that the CCRC told him that the use of D. Drive S. For the Kiessling's Gravel Pit trucks to drive on that road as the road is already in terrible shape.

NEW BUSINESS

Consumers Energy lighting contract Resolution 7-2012 read by Supervisor Rapp. Clerk Hinkley made a motion to accept lighting contract for a new light pole by Consumers Powers. Trustee Cornell seconded the motion. CARRIED

Trustee Lawrence made a motion to adjourn and Clerk Hinkley seconded it at 8:11 p.m.
