SCP Television and Talon NewsNet will serve as electronic news gathering outletsutilizing student journalists to cover beats on campus and in the community.Content may be distributed through the school’s primarywebsite, dedicated multimedia portals, and local cable television outlets.

Homework & supplementary off-campus assignments

Students are encouraged to use after-school and off-campus time devoted to Electronic News Gathering from content sources or events that are not normally available during regular school days.Other homework assignments may include – but not be limited to - viewing and evaluating various multimedia productions and programs from broadcast, cable, satellite and Internet sources for evaluation or preparation.

Calendar & scheduling changes

Because of the fluid nature and demands of the Electronic News Gathering process, weekly course calendars may be altered with little or no notice.Adaptability to changing assignments and deadlines is a crucial component - not only of this course, but also in real world practices. Calendars may be posted in the classroom, or on-line at SchoolWires or Google Classroom.

Instruction Method

Students will primarily be instructed, guided, and graded on major projects related to recurring programming produced both on- and off-campus. Lectures, presentation through on-line and local sources, and interaction and participation in class will also be heavily balanced with practical/hands-on experiences.Instructional outcomes will include – but not be limited to – content relevant to ongoing promotion and support of academic courses, extracurricular activities, athletics and clubs, administrative departments and community events.
