Job Title:Mealtime Assistant

1.Purpose of Job

To work under the guidance of the class teacher and Early Years Leader to undertake support programmes.

To enable all pupils to access the Early Years Curriculum and support lunchtime provision.

Assist the Early Years Team in the management of pupils in the classroom and Early Years outdoor area.

To work with children and parents keeping confidentiality at all times, both an and out of the work place.

To keep children safe, secure and stimulated at all times.

2.Principal Accountabilities

  • Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to play activities.
  • Include key children identified by SENCO who require support to develop social and emotional language and vocabulary
  • Contribute towards the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  • Ensure children are safe, stimulated and secure at all times.
  • Encourage pupils to interact successfully with others and engage in a range of activities.
  • Set high expectations of behaviour and promote self-esteem and independence.
  • Model successful behaviour strategies, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents ,reinforcing the ethos of the nursery classroom.
  • Provide positive feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement .
  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive play environment. Use a range of strategies and resources, in liaison with the Early Years teacher and EY Teaching Assistant, to ensure all pupils succeed in social groups.
  • Monitor pupils’ responses. Feedback to members of Early Years Team when necessary
  • Support for the School.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safe guarding, child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protections, reporting all concerns to an appropriately designated person.
  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
  • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as requested.
  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
