Review of Season

It was agreed by all present that scheduling the games for the academy teams was their biggest challenge. Having a complete schedule generated prior to the start of the season would make things run smoother. If a club determines that they cannot field all of the teams that are scheduled, they can contact the hosting club and the schedule can be adjusted accordingly. The more information that we can give parents about the schedule, the better they can prepare for any future commitments that may come up.

The following guidelines will be used for scheduling:

Communication to parents

  • Games will be scheduled 8:00 AM – Noon
  • Official schedule will create one game per team
  • It was agreed that clubs can talk to each other to set up more games. If clubs agree to do more than 1 game it is the responsibility of the teams to get referees for the second game.
  • There will be U8, U9 and U10 league for both coed and girls

Schedule the games for 1 game.

League One preparation for Academy League:

  • Place holder teams will be created in League One by the club registrar or schedule manager for scheduling purposes. Clubs should follow the guidelines for creating the team name in League One. The teams need to be in League One no later than March26, 2014. Please review guidelines to creating place holder teams in League One. Examples listed below
  • Coding for place holder teams. Example
  • ECALDePereU8B1A
  • ECAL stands for East Central Academy League
  • DePere is the club name
  • U8B – team age and gender. B = coed, G = girls
  • 1A - 1 = Highest team in ranking U8 boys, A = name of team
  • If you have more than 1 high ranked team then you would name the second team 1B
  • If you have a team that is lower in skill level rank them as “2” Team would be 2A.
  • The last letter in the code “A”, “B” “C” gives each team a unique name in that age division.
  • Continue with current formats as follows:

Age Group / # Player on Fld / Length / Referee Fee / Field Size / Goal Size
U8 / 4 (no Goalie) / 4 x 12 mins / No ref / Length (Minimum 25 / Maximum 35)
Width (Minimum 20 / Maximum 30) / 4' x 6'
U9 and U10 / 6 (5v5 + Goalie) / 2 x 25 mins / Center Ref - $14 / Length (Minimum 45 / Maximum 60)
Width (Minimum 35 / Maximum 45) / 6' x 18' min. / 7' x 21' max.

Coaches

  • Discussion about goalkeepers for the U8 League
  • It was determined that the size of the goal often determines if a coach wants a keeper or ends up putting a player back to guard the goal.
  • On game day, the coaches can talk and decide if they want a goalkeeper.

Teams were traveling to event and ended up playing one of their own teams from their club. Parents questioned why they were traveling and ended up playing a team they could have stayed home to play. How do we match up teams to avoid this?

  • This happened to the U8 teams for Kimberly, Menasha and Howard
  • People feel that if we create a full schedule we can avoid matching home teams to each other.
