Producer/Back-up News Host

We’re looking for a Producer and back-up Host for GPB Atlanta 88.5’s signature afternoon drive time news magazine program. We’re in the nation’s 9th largest radio market and had the largest audience gain of any public radio station in the country in 2015. We’re an all-platform newsroom with all of the audio, digital and video tools you need (and toys you want) and the support to do cool stuff. We aren’t afraid to takes risks like doing the entire show live from a festival or other remote site.
The person we hire will assist the host in identifying major news stories worth covering, book guests, prepare scripts, and write and post to social media and GPBNews.org. S/he will also help prepare promotions, traffic, weather and other continuity elements within the program. S/he serves as the primary back-up host and will regularly report, write and voice news spots and feature stories for air on GPB’s 18 radio stations.
Candidate Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in a related field and two years journalism experience required; public radio experience ideal.
· Demonstrated skill in reporting, audio editing, broadcast and online writing, and social media.
· Must possess confident, personable delivery that fits seamlessly into NPR’s news magazines.
· Ability to work collaboratively, juggle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
· Must be able to work varying shifts, to include seven days per week, weekends and holidays.
