Jose Royo Spain International Travel Fund

The Jose Royo Spain International Travel Fund was established to help expose Earlham students with limited financial resources to the language, history, arts, literature, politics and cultures of Spain. The fund may be used to help support travel expenses related to the tuition and fees for May Term experiences based in Spain. Recipients of this award are required to contact the donors upon return from their travel abroad experience to share what they learned and how the experience shaped or inspired them.

The Simon Scholarship

The Simon Scholarship was established in 2008 to assist Earlham students who are participating in off-campus semester or May Term programs that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford. Esther Mary Pearson Simon ’51 was a 4th generation Earlhamite, and she had fond memories of her time at Earlham, where she majored in Biology. This travel scholarship fund honors Esther’s boundless energy, curiousity about the natural world and other cultures, sense of adventure and love of travel. This fund can be used to cover travel costs for an off-campus study program during the academic year or for tuition costs during May Term.

John and Anna Pilgrim Award

This fund was established to provide financial assistance to Earlham students who are accepted to participate in an international May Term.

Clarice Mundy Coghlan Travel Fund

This fund was established to provide financial assistance to Earlham students majoring in Business/Non-Profit Management who are participating in off-campus programs either through May Terms or semester programs. This fund can be used to cover either domestic or international programs.

Two student recipients will be selected annually for grants up to $3,500 by the International Programs Office based on financial need and the quality of their application. Students will only be eligible to receive a scholarship from this fund one time during their academic career. There must also be an understanding with each recipient, when accepting the award, that they will share what they learned and how the experience shaped or inspired them upon their return from their travel abroad experience.
