Duties:Reporting to the Director of Technology and learning Innovations, the incumbent:

  • supports and works in collaboration with faculty for curriculum and program development and technology integration through the Learning Innovation and Technology Department at Northern College campuses;
  • will support all curriculum development/mapping initiatives at the college;
  • will provide guidance and leadership to the College with regards to curriculum and program development as part of the college’s existing quality assurance processes;
  • will also work with faculty in order to create new or redesign existing courses. This work will require the incumbent to review existing learning outcomes with subject matter experts and identify appropriate assessment strategies based on course modality (i.e., face-to-face, hybrid, and online);
  • will conduct original research, review curriculum components with subject matter experts, and complete a series of official reports for internal/external review;
  • will follow ministry’s guidelines in order to ensure all quality assurance requirements are met during the new program development process;
  • will work closely with the departments Instructional to streamline the efforts and time required of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to effectively develop pedagogically sound courseware that is reflective of current technology practices and learning theories;
  • will provide support and training for the College’s Course Outline and Mapping system, conducting research on teaching and learning initiatives, maintaining program statistics for the college, delivering information sessions, and participating in larger quality assurance processes within the College.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 year degree, (B.Ed. preferred) plus certification in Adult Education or another field related to the duties of the position
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant and progressive experience working in educational research and program development (preferably in a postsecondary educational environment). The incumbent should have experience in the following areas:
  • Working with a variety of stakeholders including faculty, curriculum specialists, administration, industry leaders, and the general public.
  • Researching, exploring and working with new educational and/or training opportunities (i.e., new program ideas).
  • Preparing official documents for management or external approval/validation bodies (preferably in Ontario college setting)
  • Conducting quality assurance reviews of program/training curriculum that utilize outcome-based learning strategies

Skills:

  • Advanced organization and coordination of multiple initiatives
  • An ability to assess and map essential employability skills, and vocational learning outcomes as they relate to program and course development
  • Effective project management skills
  • Excellent computer literacy skills advanced proficiency using work processing, spread sheet and presentation software; email communications.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, people and customer/client services skills
