Season Plan & Philosophy
- Encourage players to have FUN, develop hockey skills, develop team type mentality, develop solid work ethic, develop friendships and learn to win or lose respectfully.
- Teach basic hockey skills, while introducingnew skills.
- Provide players and coaches with practice plans that emphasize hard and soft skill development:

*Players will play all positions, rotation through the season
- To Stress the importance of what part of the game the players have control over: Their EFFORT and their ATTITUDE
- To Emphasize a TEAMFIRST mentality– Work hard for your teammates
- Game philosophy – It’s NOT about winning and losing. Players will be instructed/expected to focus on their effort, attitude and playing as a team
- Coaches will provide consistent feedback to players during/after practice or games
- Family, school, church, and health come before hockey
- Open to feedback and highly encouraged
Positions
- All players will have an opportunity to play all positions, as we will be breaking them up into forwards and defense for 4-6 weeks at a time to lean the positions. We should be able to make three switches through the season.
- We will need to rotate at goalie position, unless we have a full-time goalie
Season Format
- Practice - Station style practice /small area games/inner-squad scrimmages
- Shared Ice with Other teams
- 39 Indoor Sessions
- Outdoor twice a week December-February/Middle of March
- Games
- Up to 15 district Scrimmages League Games (Half-ice up to December 31 then can be full ice)
- Jamborees (up to three)
- Dryland
- 10 Sessions (The Pond)
Additional Funds
- We will be asking for additional funds (MAX is $150) for one or two other Jamboree’s later on in the season.
Attendance Policy
- Players should be ready to go on the ice (Full gear on) 10minutes before our scheduledPRACTICE time.
- Players should be ready to go on the ice (Full gear on) 20minutes before our scheduled Game time.
- Please contact one of the one of the Coaching staff if your son is unable to attend a game or practice. (e-mail, call or text)
Bench Policy
- Parents are not allowed to enter or stand by the bench at anytime unless given permission by the coaches.
Player & Parent Conduct
- All players will respect other team members, coaches, parents, referees and opposing teams on and off the ice.
- All players are expected to come to practices/games prepared to listen/pay attention and participate. If players are not listening/paying attention, not participating or making distractions (i.e. pushing, tripping, kicking, checking, shooting pucks, skating on their own, not listening, etc…):
- First Incident: Player will be given a verbal warning
- Second Incident: Player will be asked to sit on the bench for two-minutes
- Third Incident: Player will be asked to sit for five-minutes
- Fourth Incident: Player will be asked to leave the ice and there will be a parent, player and coach meeting right after practice/game.
- Players are expected to respect coaches, teammates, referees and opposing teams
- Parents are expected to respect coaches, players, referees and opposing teams.
- Parents are expected to provide their player with positive/supportive feedback
- If any issues arise, please contact Dan McCluskeyas soon as possible. Dan will be available after practices/games, e-mail and phone.
Cancelled Practice/Scrimmages:
- If School has been cancelled for District 196 there will be no practice/scrimmage that day/night
- If after school activities have been cancelled for District 196 there will be no practice/scrimmage that day/night
- If the Coaches decide to cancel you will receive an email by 5:00pm on that day
- Any cancellation will be updated on the Mite Red Team Website page
