INTRODUCTION

People’s Postcode Lottery manages multiple society lotteries on behalf of thirteen grant-giving charities. To date, players of People’s Postcode Lottery, have awarded over £63 million to good causes

Ten of the thirteen existing trusts: Postcode Green Trust; Postcode Heroes Trust; Postcode Animal Trust; Postcode Care Trust; Postcode Global Trust; Postcode African Trust, Postcode Sport Trust, Postcode Children Trust, Postcode Planet Trust and, Postcode Culture Trust, award funding to charities involved in specific sectors and together award regular annual grants to 53 charities up to a maximum of £600,000 each.

Two others, People’s Postcode Trust and Postcode Community Trust, run small grants programmes awarding funds of between £500 and £20,000 to community groups, good causes and charities across Britain. In addition, Postcode Dream Trust, funds the Dream Fund a £1Million+ award for innovation and collaborative projects as well capacity/knowledge or creative-based initiatives.

As player numbers increase, more charities will benefit from lottery funds and it is anticipated four further grant-giving Trusts will come into existence in 2015 each awarding support to good causes as a result of players’ funds.

JOB PURPOSE

The Charities team plays a crucial role in the Lottery’s mission to raise funds for good causes. This team is charged with managing the grant-giving programmes, raising the profile of the good causes supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery as well promoting the Lottery and reasons to play.

Reporting to the Head of Charities you will be responsible for the small grants trusts, this role on a day-to-day basis will support the administration of these funding programmes and the decisions made by the Board.The Trusts Manager will work across two existing trusts; People’s Postcode Trust, Postcode Community Trust and one new trust to be established that will further our players’ support of grass roots causes.

Once approved by the Board, you will be responsible for administering specific grants awarded by each Trust, monitoring and developing close working relations with supported good causes to maximise the associated profile raising opportunities. As a result you will work closely with the Trusts Communications Officer, ensuring that there is an integrated approach to PR opportunities across the Trusts and Lottery communication channels.

With experience of account management and an understanding of charity fundraising, you must be able to learn quickly and be able to adapt to the demands of this role. As an integral member of the Trust team, you will be required to visit supported charities and external events as a representative of the Trusts.

Working in a busy and expanding team, you must have a ‘can-do’ and confident attitude, with the ability to work flexibility and to use your own initiative but also be able to consider things strategically.

The role, would suit someone that is confident, knowledgeable and a good communicator that can work at the most senior levels.

KEY ACTIVITIES

1)Manage the day to day application, review, approval and monitoring process for all applications funded by PPT and Postcode Community Trust including:

a)Manage relationship with beneficiaries and ensure regular two-way contact

b)Oversee and manage payments including entering all financial spend on the SAGE system,

c)Coordinate regular project presentations and updates to keep all teams informed

d)Work with comms team to take advantage of PR opportunities

e)Complete desk monitoring for 10% of projects

f)Complete full monitoring including on site visit for a further 5% of projects

g)Provide periodical updates on projects to the Board

2)Line manage the Trust Assistant

3)Support regulatory compliance requirements for operating a Society Lottery

4)Attend, prepare for, minute and follow up actions from four Trustee meetings per Trust per year

5)Update content on Trusts website as frequently as required

6)Contribute information about supported projects to inform player/marketing communication materials

7)Work closely with Comms team on comms strategy for new trust, player messaging as well as established acknowledgement requirements for grant-awarded support

8)Cover in the absence of any of the three Trusts Manager

9)Support the Head of Charities in organising the annual Charity Gala and any other reasonable duties

10)Consider and develop new funding programme options

11)Attend the annual charity gala and support the organization of the event

12)Attendance at two Postcode Millions events per year

13)Partake in two days volunteering with PPL

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in the charity/voluntary sector essential
  • Previous experience working with a grant application process from a fundraising prospectiveadvantageous
  • Account management and/or fundraising experience desirable

  • Ability to work at senior levels and represent the Trusts confidently and in a knowledgeable way
  • Must have friendly, confident and positive outlook, with enthusiasm and a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • A concise communicator with excellent attention to detail.

  • Level-headed, with the ability to make assessments confidently
  • Good team working skills, with the ability to work closely with others

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • The ability to manage workload and to juggle priorities essential
  • Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential
  • Good working knowledge of the SAGE system and SalesForce desirable
  • Working towards investment qualification advantageous

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Monday – Friday, 9am – 5.30pm with occasional weekend work. You will receive 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. You will be encouraged to spend two days a year volunteering with one of our charity partners or projects.

Regular travel both nationally and internationally will be required.
