Dunham Woods Riding Club

Position: Dining room manager

Department: food and beverage

Reports to: general manager

Job Summary:

The Dining Room Manager is responsible for the service operations throughout the Club. This includes the preparation and execution of events and daily ala carte as well as the supervision of staff to assure member and guest satisfaction.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

·  Works with the General Manager and Executive Chef to schedule and coordinate personnel requirements for club & private member functions.

·  Executes detailed plans for each event.

·  Holds pre-function meeting with servers to ensure smooth, efficient service; assigns server stations and coordinates the timing of courses.

·  Ensures that all staff are well-groomed and in proper uniform

·  Assures proper inventory of all service equipment and supplies to meet required needs.

·  Maintain a high level of member contact throughout service hours.

·  Handles member and guest complaints in a professional manner and according to established policies.

·  Orient, train, supervise and periodically assist in the review of performance of wait staff and bartenders.

·  Regularly inspects all front- and back-of-the-house service areas and equipment to assure that sanitation, safety, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards for the department are met.

·  Assures that all functions are properly staffed. Revise scheduled service staff according to the flow of business.

·  Assures the neatness, cleanliness and safety of the club.

·  Participates in scheduled staff and management meetings.

·  Ensures that all appropriate charges are billed correctly on a daily basis and posting daily sales reports.

·  Plans development and training activities for the staff.

·  Assures that state and local laws and the club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.

·  Makes recommendations for the replacement and upgrading of club service equipment.

·  Follows and enforces all rules and policies of the Club.

·  Performs other tasks as requested by the General Manager

Qualifications/Requirements:

Must be detail orientated. Candidate must be able to work with all personality types in a pleasant and efficient manner. Degree in hospitality or restaurant training program and/or 3-5 yrs. of floor experience preferred. Candidate must have a written and spoken command of the English language. Computer literacy and knowledge of point of sale systems is beneficial. Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time and lift up to 35lbs. Professional dress, appearance, and presence is required. Staff motivation is a key to success. Must be focused on working with a ‘sense of urgency” on behalf of the membership.

Salary:

Salary is commensurate with experience but anticipated to be in the mid-$30K range. Benefits include medical insurance, paid vacation, meals while on duty.
