CARLISLE CATHEDRAL WEEK – INFORMATION SHEET

Travel Arrangements

Depart Monday 21st July. Meet at the Oliver Bird Hall at 9.15am ready to depart at 9.30am. Some youngsters will have to travel with other parents. Please bring a packed lunch or money to buy food.

Return Sunday 27th July. We shall leave Carlisle at about 5.30pm, aiming to return to the OBH by 9.30pm. We will send text messages with more definite times once we are on our way.

Bedding

Bedding is all provided, there is no need to bring anything.

Washing Things

Please bring your own towel and all toiletries.

Choir Robes and Uniform

It is your responsibility to bring your choir robes. These should be named and preferably carried in a named suit carrier / plastic cover. Please ensure they are clean.

Full choir uniform is required, including plenty of white blouses and shiny black shoes! Please ensure that all items are named.

Clothes

Informal clothes will be worn every day. Bring trainers and a waterproof coat.

Bags

Please bring your belongings in a small bag as space for luggage is limited.

Food

We will provide three meals a day, drinks and a bedtime drink. There is no need to bring any additional food with you. Food is not allowed in bedrooms for hygiene reasons.

Money

Any money brought is your own responsibility. You will just need pocket money for ice creams, sweets and drinks when out.

Swimming

If you wish to go swimming, please bring an additional towel, swimwear and a plastic bag to put them in afterwards. Parents should indicate on the consent form whether their children are allowed to swim, and their swimming ability.

Electronic devices and mobile phones

To be honest, we would much rather these were left at home but do realise that some of our youngsters (and adults?) cannot be detached from them! We do not accept any responsibility for the safety and security of these items which are brought to Carlisle. During free time and recreation we want the youngsters to interact together, hopefully outside, especially as we have such a wide age range with us; playing on electronic devices can be anti-social and exclusive, and has caused problems in the past, especially after lights-out.

Medication

If you have to take medication regularly, please do not forget to bring it with you. This must be declared on the consent form. I shall take some basic first aid. By signing the consent form, I shall assume you agree to my using antiseptic wipes, plasters and insect bite cream when necessary. I will always seek parents’ permission before administering cough medicine or paracetamol.

Consent Forms

These must be completed for all unaccompanied children. If you have not already done so, please return yours asap, particularly so that we plan for any dietary requirements.

Have fun!

After all that information, we simply hope that the week will be lots of fun for youngsters and adults alike. Being in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing usually ensures that everyone can enjoy themselves.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
