ETPT 2020Sections 5, 9 & 10Fall 2008
Due: BEGINNING of Class on November 24/25, 2008.

The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) in your school district has asked you to give a brief presentation at their next meeting about the “innovative and exciting way you integrate technology,” as a teacher (or speech pathologist, or guidance counselor, or special ed teacher, etc.). Naturally, you said yes. Your audience for this presentation will be parents, as well as other teachers and administrators. Your presentation has been given five (5) minutes (maximum) on the PTO agenda. You will be projecting your presentation using a video projector (similar to the one we use in the PC Lab for this course). One of the best approaches for this assignment would be to show to this group a PowerPoint one of your students or a group of students created to fulfill a requirement in your class! Regardless, the PowerPoint you create should demonstrate to parents how you used technology to help students master a particular benchmark or a certain aspect of one of your standards.

Your presentation should contain original material and fresh content. The only exception to this would be using materials you created for purposes in this class, this semester. Do NOT use a Design Template for your presentation!

Your PowerPoint presentation MUST contain between 10-12 slides.

SUBMITTING THIS ASSIGNMENT:

SAVE your presentation in one PowerPoint file as: lname_finitial.ppt

Example, if your name is John Stewart, name your file: stewart_j.ppt

Since your project is a presentation you would be sharing with community and school associates, you are expected to share your presentation with the class on the due date using the SmartBoard. You will also need to copy your file to my flash so I have a digital copy from which I will assess your grade.

As always, keep a backup in another place.

Adhere to the criteria on the next page for designing and producing your PowerPoint presentation.

CONTENT AND MECHANICAL CRITERIA

  1. LENGTH:
Your PowerPoint presentation will consist of between 10 and 12 slides.
  2. APPROPRIATE CONTENT:
Language, examples, etc. are appropriate for the intended audience (i.e., parents, teachers and administrators).
  3. FOOTER:
Every slide should contain a footer with your name and the slide number only. You may use the master slide for this.
  4. TRANSITIONS:
Every slide (except the last one) should contain a transition to the next slide. The transitions used should not be distracting to the viewer.
  5. BACKGROUND:
No more than five (5) slides should have the same background.
  6. ANIMATION:
At least two (2) slides must be animated in an appropriate way.
  7. SOUND:
Between 2-5 slides must appropriately use sound.
  8. GRAPHICS:
At least 5 graphics that appropriately contribute to the presentation must be used.
  9. ACTION BUTTONS:
One slide must contain action buttons (at least two) that take the viewer to non-consecutive slides. On those slides, there should also be home buttons that return the viewer to the slide where the original buttons reside. The last slide contains end-show button.
  10. SLIDE SHOW:
Set the presentation to advance manually for a slide show.
  11. LEGIBILITY & ACCURACY:
Information on all slides must be legible when projected or read on screen. All slides must be free of mechanical errors (e.g., spelling, punctuation, etc.).

This presentation MUST demonstrate how you INTEGRATE technology with your future students. As such, the presentation might be an example of what you would have your students create or something you prepare for them that, through the use of Action Buttons, they would interact with in class or as a tutorial.
