PLAY SUMMARY POWERPOINT

You will be summarizing the information of ONE FAMOUS PLAY and its AUTHOR (PLAYWRIGHT).

You will be able to select your play from a list. Once you select the play (and author), you will create a POWER POINT describing the different part of the play and the author (listed below).

In order to select your play, go to the website below and either pick a familiar play or a play at random. In either case below is the website:

Your powerpoint will need the following slides:

  • TITLE SLIDE w/ IMAGE (1 SLIDE)
  • BASIC PLAY INFORMATION. (1 SLIDE)

◦This would include, Play title, Author, Date Written, how many acts and scenes

  • SUMMARY OF THE PLAY (1-3 SLIDES)

◦Give an account of what happens in each act and scene within the play. Keep it short. Only a sentence or two per act. Most plays have 5 ACTS and multiple SCENES per act.

  • FULL LIST OF CHARACTERS (1-2 SLIDES)

◦Provide a complete list of the characters that take part in the play. If you are able, give a brief explanation of what their role is in the play.

◦EXAMPLE: Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Son of the Murdered King

  • BIOGRAPHY OF THE PLAYWRIGHT (Author of the Play) (2-4 SLIDES)

◦Complete a short biography of the playwright’s life and achievements.

◦FOR EXAMPLE, TOPICS you MIGHT want to talk about:

▪the author's early life (where they were born, where did they go to school, family, etc.)

▪Death (if deceased)

▪Education

▪Career (other plays, stories or other pieces of works they produced)

▪Style

▪Influence

▪other aspects (parts) of their life

  • REFERENCE SLIDE WITH THE WEBSITES YOU USED (MINIMUM OF 3 SITES)

THE INFORAMTION

Get the information from where ever you can. I have no problems if you use wikipedia, but please do not make it your only source for information. You need at least 3 different websites for information.

THE POWER POINT

When putting your powerpoint together, there are some things you need to consider.

  1. The colour of the slide / picture against the text
  2. the colour of the text
  3. the font style of the text (choose one that is readable)
  4. choose images that work with what you are talking about

THE DUE DATE

TO BE ANNOUNCED. Since this is a powerpoint we will have to come to the computer lab several times over the next couple of weeks. WE WILL NOT BE COMING EVERY CLASS.

SAVING YOUR POWER POINTS

I will provide a flash drive for you to save your power points on. However, if you save it on your account OR your own flash drive OR a friends flash drive and lose your powerpoint, then you will have to start over. If you want it to be safe, save it with me. If I lose it, it is then my fault.
